CONGRATULATIONS Ambassadors!! E. D. Nixon scholars engage in increased responsibility, as leadership roles teach accountability and commitment. Scholars involved in leading initiatives fosters critical thinking and problem solving, which are essential for classroom and real-world applications!
Kingston was all smiles as our Scholar Enrollment Coordinator, Ms. Harrison rewarded scholars who earned 100% attendance for the month of September!!
Target small group instruction can have many benefits for scholars to include: Increased engagement, improved confidence, effective assessment, improved academic outcomes, enhanced critical thinking, and increased collaboration!!

Build the Habit of Good Character Traits!!
Each month at Nixon, we focus on character traits to help foster a foundation for our boys and girls future. For the month of October, we will focus on "Responsibility".
Here are a few ways scholars can show they are being responsible:
Do what you say you will ❖ Admit when you make a mistake ❖ Think before you act or speak ❖ Keep track of your tasks (homework, chores, etc.) ❖ Be someone others can count on

It takes a team to help a school function effectively and all employees play an important role in the lives of our scholars. Each month, we recognize outstanding teachers and staff members who are making a positive impact at E. D. Nixon Elementary School! This award has been established to recognize our outstanding educators for their dedication, professionalism, and excellence in instruction.

1. Indigenous Day, No school: October 14th
2. Scholar of the Month program: October 16th at 9:00a.m.
3. Breast Cancer Balloon Release (Wear Pink): October 18th at 2:30p.m.
4. Red Ribbon Week (October 23rd through 31st)
5. Asynchronous Learning Day- No School: October 25th
6. Trunk or Treat: October 31st at 2:00p.m.
7. Check Out ends each day at 2:30p.m.
8. Scholars will have homework each night Monday - Thursday.

Wednesday, October 2nd was National Custodian Day! We appreciate Ms. Ringstaff and Ms. Shackleford for always keeping our building looking nice and smelling good. It is important to have a clean and safe building for our scholars to learn and thrive. We showed our appreciation by purchasing Chick-fil-A lunch as a small token of our appreciation. Thank you for ALL you do!
