WINTERFEST 2023
Middle School Update
This month we are focusing on the character trait of Kindness. We are asking families who are able to participate to bring in a donation for our Reardan Food Bank. This also helps us defeat Davenport in our battle for the Golden Plunger. That game will be at Davenport this year on Tuesday, December 12th starting at approximately 4 pm.
On Wednesday, December 13th we will have our winter concert at 7 pm in the HS gym. Grades 5-12 will be performing, so please come out and hear our AMAZING Reardan Musicians lead by Mr. Taylor. Itโs going to be a great performance!
Middle School students will have their PBIS end of month celebration for students who did not receive major office referrals for the month of December. We will decorate and eat sugar cookies, have a hot cocoa and cider bar, play games and have fun in the commons on December 19th. Remember this is a half day and students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Students were given Kindness Bingo cards today at lunch as a connection activity partnering with Only 7 Seconds. They will be completing their bingo cards to be placed in a drawing for even more prizes during our reward activity. Ask your student what acts of kindness they have been performing!
Options Program Update
The Options Program has a Community-Based Facilitator, Ben Baker, who comes in and teaches a Lego Robotics class. This course has 25 kids in it ranging from kindergarten to 7th grade. These students all have Lego robotics kits where they build, code, and test their creations. The Options Program currently has about 60 students K-12. These students are either "schooled at home," take online courses and/or come to our brick-and-mortar building for courses at one of our other schools. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we have enrichment classes like Lego Robotics, Cooking, and Stop Motion for our K-8th grade students. If you are interested in teaching some sort of class, feel free to reach out to us at options@reardansd.net.

These five 6th graders successfully completed the โBusy Little Elvesโ Challenge by building a log cabin, a double room igloo and the extremely difficult hula hoop snowman!
Our monthly PBIS Awards Assembly is on Monday, December 18th at 8:10. The assembly is an opportunity to celebrate classes that follow common area expectations, announce bus riders of the week for the month, as well as Wall of Fame winners.
Once the school day begins, the elementary is a hat and hood free zone. Students are welcome to wear hats outside to recess, but are asked to remove them once they enter the building. During the month of December, students may receive raffle tickets for following this expectation. The tickets may be entered into a daily prize drawing, with a grand prize awarded on December 18th.
