Teacher, Substitute, and Nurse Appreciation Week - May 6 - 10
Yearbooks
Yearbooks will tentatively be distributed on May 16th during all lunches. It is not too late to order a yearbook from the publisher. Please click on the following link to place an order through May 15, 2024. http://jostensyearbooks.com/?ref=A01019907
When your child receives their yearbook, please encourage them to keep a close watch on it, as lost yearbooks may not be replaced. Additionally, encouraging your child to use good judgment when signing friend's yearbooks is appreciated. Writing too big, in inappropriate places, or writing unfriendly messages is never a good option and could result in consequences.
Stop the Bleed Training for Students - May 15
Spring Final Exam Information
Spring semester final exams begin on Monday, May 20, 2024, and end on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Our final exam schedule is available on our website at the link below.
McCullough Junior High School has a policy of no early final exams. Students who are absent during the scheduled exam time can make up their final exam between May 28 and May 30.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete their exams in a distraction free environment, the attendance office will not be doing early checkouts for students during exam periods. We ask that parents and students plan accordingly so that students are able to remain in their classroom the entire duration of the exam period.
Thursday, May 23rd, will be an early dismissal day at 12:50 p.m. All buses will depart around 1:05 p.m. We have not heard if our day will be extended due to the weather day. Should we have to extend our day, we will send out the adjusted schedule.
Please click on the button below to view the Spring Semester Final Exam Schedule.
No Backpacks on May 22nd & May 23rd
We will have a no backpack policy the last two days of school on May 22nd and May 23rd. Students may bring items they need for the day in a clear Ziploc bag. Water bottles are permissible. Lunches should also be in a clear Ziploc bag. Coaches will provide additional instructions for their athletes.
Any backpacks that are brought to school on Wednesday and Thursday will be held in the front office and returned to students at the end of the day.
This is a common practice at McCullough and other junior highs in our district. We feel that this practice avoids any potential distraction or disruption.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found is located in the cafeteria. Lost items will be donated to charity at the end of the year. Found electronics and valuables are kept in the 8th grade office. Please have your child check for lost items prior to the last day of school.
Car Rider Pick Up and Drop Off Reminder
Car Rider Pick up and Drop off is at McCullough only. Please do not pick up or drop off students on the Panther Creek, at the church, or orthodontist office. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints and asked us to remind our parents that dropping off or picking up at any of these locations is not allowed.
Medication Pick Up
If your student has medication in the clinic, it must be picked up by May 23rd at 4pm. All medication must be picked up by a parent/guardian or other designated adult. No medication can be sent home with the student on the school bus. No medication is stored in the clinic over the summer. Any medication not picked up by the end of the school day on May 23rd will be discarded. Please contact the school nurse at 832-592-5122 if you have any questions.
Extra Help and Tutoring Opportunities
Morning Tutoring
Students should check with their classroom teacher for tutorial location and availability per subject. Morning tutorials begin at 8:05 a.m.
PAWS After School Tutoring Ends May 16
What: An after-school study hall where students can have time specifically set aside to complete their homework or get help in different subjects. We will have McCullough teachers available to assist and supervise.
Where: PAWS is held after school in the downstairs library.
When: Monday-Thursday from 4:10-5:00pm
What should I bring? Come prepared with homework and any supplies you might need. Be sure you have enough to work on until 5:00. Students will have access to chromebooks for online work. Students will not be dismissed early from PAWS and must remain in the library the entire time.
How do I get home? As soon as the students enter and sign in, car riders will text their ride to remind them that pick up is at the front of the building at 5:00pm. There is no late bus. All students from PAWS will leave together and go to the covered horseshoe at the front office to wait for their ride. Walkers and bike riders will leave from the front as well.
PAWS is a positive environment to support student success.

McCullough Library Information
All library books are due Friday, May 10. Students can check their accounts by logging into the SSO and choosing the app, Destiny Discover. At the top of the screen is a menu titled, My Stuff. There they can choose to see what is currently checked out as well as any fines they may have. Fines are only given if a book has been lost and the amount will cover the cost to replace the book. If the book is returned, there is no charge. To pay for a lost book, students can bring a check to the librarian made out to McCullough Junior High. If you have further questions about your child’s account, please reach out to Mrs. Eaves at ceaves@conroeisd.net.
This has been an amazing year in the McCullough library! Students checked out over 20,000 books this year. Wow. I have had the best time getting to know all of the library patrons and look forward to those that will return next year.
The public library is hosting a summer reading program for all ages! (including parents). The kickoff date is May 28th, and runs through July 20. You can register anytime during the 8 weeks.
I hope your summer is full of wonderful book adventures!
