Hansen Weekly Update
June 9th, 2024
Racing to the End of the School Year!
Hansen Families,
Amazingly, we are heading into the LAST WEEK of the school year!! It is a year that truly flew by, and for myself and new Assistant Principal Kelly Fahey, it has been a memorable and amazing experience as new members of the Hansen Community!
This week, the decision was made to extend our Boosterthon deadline until tomorrow, so that we could get closer to our school goal of $30K - we are so close! If we hit that goal, I've agreed to ride around school on a tricycle for a day, as students keep reminding me!😃
This week we met families of rising Kindergarteners at our 'Welcome to Kindergarten Night', so thank you to Ms. Fahey for putting together our presentation, and to Mrs. Callahan, Mrs. Giglio, and Nurses Glennon and Shepard for presenting to families. I'd like to also thank new CAPT President Meredith Flynn and CAPT Co-Vice President Casey Morle for introducing our new families to CAPT and all it does for our school!
Unfortunately the overzealous weather prediction for Thursday night caused our annual Hansen End of Year Picnic to be cancelled, but we hope to see everyone at our next big school event, which is TBD this year / next year. Next week, we'd love to see all students in school each day, on time, so we can enjoy the last full week of school together as a school community, and close out a tremendously successful school year together!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Sincerely,
Paul McKnight
Principal
Hansen Elementary School

Attendance Concerns
Parents, we are seeing an alarming uptick in student absences and students being dropped off late to school. More than anything else, elementary school is about building life-long habits and attendance and punctuality are necessities for all students' future success, even at the end of the school year.
Please make sure you are dropping your student(s) off before 9:10 each morning - at 8:50 is ideal, because if there is traffic on your way, they'll still be on time for school.
Thank you!
Lost and Found Donation Date
Parents, please encourage your student(s) to visit our lost and found if they're missing anything they've brought to school. All items in the Lost and Found area, in our Main Lobby, we'll be donated to local organizations after June 14th.
Important Traffic Reminder
Families, please DO NOT park on either side of Pecunit Street in front of our school during drop-off or dismissal - it is not safe and creates the potential for someone getting seriously hurt. Please park instead down the street past our playground, in the baseball parking lot, or at the Galvin Middle School parking lot if you are walking to the school for drop-off or pick-up. Thank you!
Important for Next School Year - Moving?
Parents - If your family is moving, or attending a different school next year, please contact the Hansen Main Office at (781) 821-5085, and let us know so that we can make sure to give your child's Hansen school records to their new school or school district.
Thank you!
CORI Update for Parent Volunteers
Parents, we will not be processing any more CORI applications for the remainder of this school year. This means if you don't already have a confirmed CORI on record with us, you wouldn't be able to volunteer for Field Trips or other volunteer opportunities during our remaining school days. Thank you.
Hansen School Start / End Times Change Next Year
**Attention parents - next year Hansen Elementary School's start / end times will shift to: 8:40 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Thank you in advance for noting this important change for next year.

Chromebook Collection Letter for Families
Dear CPS Families,
As we reflect on and approach the sunset of this school year, we are filled with gratitude and pride for the incredible progress our students have made using their school issued Chromebooks. These devices have become an essential part of our educational toolkit, transforming the way we teach and learn. They have allowed us to personalize learning experiences, making education more engaging and accessible for every student.
With Chromebooks, our students have been able to explore new subjects at their own pace, collaborate with peers in innovative ways, and access a wealth of resources that have enriched their learning journey. The flexibility and adaptability of these devices have empowered our students to take control of their education, fostering a sense of independence and enthusiasm for learning that will benefit them throughout their academic careers and beyond.
As summer approaches, it is time for us to collect each student's Chromebook for necessary updates, and any repairs that might be needed. This process ensures that every device will be in top condition when students return in the fall, ready to support another year of learning and growth. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of functionality and reliability, so our students can continue to benefit from these powerful educational tools. During the week of June 10th, students will return their chromebook during their final Tech Class meeting with their Digital Literacy and Computer Science teachers.
Upon returning to school, students will receive the device for the 2024-2025 school year.
We appreciate your cooperation in this process and your ongoing support of our efforts to enhance and enrich our students' learning experiences. Together, we have made significant strides in integrating technology into our curriculum, and we look forward to building on this success in the coming school year. Should your student(s) have a need for a device over the summer to support CPS approved curricular courses or school related programming, please contact Josh Fogel at fogeljo@cantonma.org.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for supporting our commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our students. Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another fantastic year of learning in the fall.
Thank you,
Josh Fogel

CAPT Corner
The Hansen CAPT wants to extend a heartfelt thank you for the financial and volunteer support we received this year. It was lovely to meet so many of you all at the many events held and we heard positive feedback about the many in-school programs your children enjoyed. We hope everyone has a fun-filled, healthy, safe Summer break.
FUNDRAISING
Thanks to the generous donations of our school community, the Hansen fun run has raised over $28,000 for enrichment programs and field trips! Since we are so close to reaching our goal of raising $30,000, donations will continue to be accepted until Monday 6/10.
Principal McKnight agreed to ride a tricycle around the school if that goal is met and we know students and staff would all love to make that happen! If you’d like to continue to give and share to help us reach our $30,000 goal, head to MYBOOSTER.COM today.
