Some mornings when the wind is right and our windows are open, we can hear the BHS drumline practicing. I’ve always said that the drumline was the best part of a home football game because it gets the crowd fired up and keeps the home team pressing forward. With all the turmoil in our world these days, it's tempting to slide into the realm of negativity or despair. Thankfully, the encouragement of others and from the Word can lift our spirits and remind us that we must press on. Jesus calls us to share the hope and stability that come from him with those around us and Young Life is committed to beating the drum that lets teenagers know they matter and getting adults pumped up to step into mission alongside us.
Below are some highlights from our work in the past few weeks...
IMPACT…
WyldLife kicked off the year with Tailgate Club and our high school friends shared an evening of fun (and cake flipping!) with Moline Young Life. Leaders have lots of YL fun in store for the fall semester!
PRAYER…
Committing to something and sticking with it takes discipline - learning and growing. Wednesday's prayer meetings are a weekly rhythm that we're committed to and the Lord is teaching us that faithfully praying for kids and leaders is an important and necessary part of YL's calling in our community. Join our Prayer Team on Wednesdays!
FINANCES…
THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our 5th annual Cornhole Challenge a success! We had 20 teams join us for friendly competition and raised about $2,200 for Campership! We're already looking forward to next year's event!
STAFF, COMMITTEE & LEADERS…
We know that consistent connection is key to our work with teenagers, so we are excited to expand to two WyldLife Clubs per month PLUS a few Young Life events for our high school friends this semester. This means we have a great need to add college-aged and adult leaders to our leadership teams! If you know someone who loves Jesus and loves teenagers, let us know - we'd love to make a connection and have some creative new ideas for various levels of leadership!
