Students Honored for Migrant Speech Competition
Trustees Pass Resolution on Cesar Chavez Day, Approve Retirement Incentive
At the March 19 meeting, the Trustees passed a resolution honoring the life and legacy of labor leader and civil rights champion Cesar Chavez.
In addition, the Board approved the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) Supplementary Retirement Plan (SRP).
Strong Relationships as a Community
Trustee Amy Ish assisted in an art lesson in the 4th grade class of Mission Park teacher Mrs. Marquez. Conducted by teacher Jennifer Bentley-Brabant, students used computer-controlled robots to create art in the manner of Jackson Pollock.
Board President Art Galimba continued his governance coursework at Monterey County Office of Education, having completed a module covering school finance.
Trustee Belia Garcia attended the CABE (California Association of Bilingual Educators) conference in Anaheim and participated in numerous workshops with SCESD staff and parents.
Next Meeting
The Board of Trustees will hold a study session on the District's Local Control and Accountabiity Plan (LCAP) on April 11. The next regular Board meeting takes place on April 16. All meeting agendas are posted to the District website the Friday before the meeting.

Information about School Board Meetings
The Board of Trustees establishes its meeting schedule for the coming year annually in June. Meetings are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month, with closed session occurring at 5pm and the public portion of the meeting starting at 6:30pm; the schedule is subject to change if the third Thursday of a month occurs during an official school holiday or on a national holiday.
