the menu may be subject to change.
🪄🎩🐇 MAGIC GIVES BACK FUNDRAISER! 🪄🎩🐇
Dear Big Creek Families,
The big magic show is almost here!! Feb. 19th is the LAST date for donations and ticket sales to earn you prizes!! Keep sending those emails!! So many are so close to the next level of prizes!!
And if you didn't get your tickets to the show yet, don't wait! Don't miss out on seeing this incredible show appearing at the BEREA HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM on February 21st, 2025, at 7pm.
The show will transform the auditorium as you know it into the likes of a Las Vegas show room or Broadway show. There are opportunities to walk the red carpet, go backstage, receive autographs from the performers, and even participate in the show! We are encouraging both students and their families to get their tickets as soon as possible, as MGB shows have a history of quickly selling out (and we don’t expect ours to be any different). Along with experiencing a top tier Grand Illusions show firsthand, Big Creek Elementary School has the potential to raise over $25,000 to put towards our students. If you haven’t purchased your seats already, be sure to visit to secure your spots at the show!

A NOTE FROM DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY DEPT.
Securly for Parents
Our district utilizes Securly for Parents.
The Securly Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view online activity outside of the classroom, such as sites browsed, social media use and activity, and items searched. Parents can also set controls outside school hours. We encourage parents to download the Securly Home app. The app will help to safeguard your child’s online activity when devices come home and give you more control.
Please visit our website for more information: https://www.berea.k12.oh.us/departments-services/technology/chromebook-info-parent-help-ticket/securly

DECISION-MAKING FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS
We understand that decisions regarding school closures can be challenging and may not meet everyone’s preferences, but please know that our top priority is the safety of our students and staff.
When a decision to close schools is made, we will notify families as quickly as possible using multiple methods in this order:
- Automated Phone Calls: Sent to the phone number(s) provided in your student's Infinite Campus account.
- Text Messages and Emails: Delivered to the contact information listed in your Infinite Campus preferences.
- District Website and Social Media: Closure announcements will appear as a pop-up notification on the website and on Facebook and Instagram.
- Local TV News Stations: Announcements will also be shared to local TV stations, though this is our final method of communication.
To ensure you receive our notifications:
- Verify that your phone number, email address, and contact preferences in Infinite Campus are accurate.
- Confirm that you have not unsubscribed from automated calls, texts, or emails (additional mass notification information).
- Update your information promptly if you change carriers or numbers.
We kindly ask families not to call the district or schools for updates during inclement weather events. Instead, please rely on the communication methods listed above for the most accurate and timely information.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we can ensure clear and effective communication during these times.

ELEMENTARY ENCORE ROTATION SCHEDULE
TITAN TICKETS
Titan Tickets are a token economy reward system at Big Creek. Students can earn Titan Tickets for many reasons (caught being good; being responsible, respectful and safe; or teacher/staff rewards). Any Berea staff member, including Bus Drivers, can give out Titan Tickets to Big Creek students. Students are responsible for keeping/not losing their Tickets as they will not be replaced if lost. Students must also put their name and homeroom on the back of each Ticket so that only that student can cash the Tickets in for a reward. Many students keep their Tickets in plastic baggies or other containers so as not to lose them. During this year, students will be able to cash in their Tickets for small rewards, larger rewards and/or save their tickets for end-of-the-year raffles.. Students do not need to cash in each time rewards are offered. Students may save Tickets for rewards later in the year or for raffle tickets for the end-of-the-year raffles. Please talk with your child about what he/she might want to buy and how he/she may need to save/budget his/her Tickets. Please be sure to explain to your child how a raffle works so they understand they may use tickets, but may not necessarily win a prize.

PBIS
What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)?
PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. It is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and all staff in all settings. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.
Below is our Titans' Pride Matrix of Expectations. We would like families to remind students of the expected behaviors in each of the areas listed in the matrix. Below the matrix is our Titans' Pledge. We always want our students to be respectful, responsible and safe. PBIS is happening in all BCSD Buildings. The Parking Lot expectations are specific to the High School
SCHOOL SAFETY MESSAGE
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The safety of our students and staff is one of our primary concerns and any threats of violence, even if deemed not credible, are taken very seriously. After several recent school tragedies across the United States, we felt it was important to remind you about our safety initiatives.
Please know that all threats against our students and staff are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated through our partnership with local law enforcement.
Threats against schools are treated very seriously, and students who are determined to have made such threats face consequences through our school’s Code of Conduct, as well as potential legal, financial, and criminal consequences.
This is an opportune time to discuss this situation with your children and emphasize that there are severe consequences of such actions, even if the threat is made in jest. Please remind your children about the importance of reporting any suspicious or potentially threatening activity to an adult as soon as possible. Another good reminder is not to repost anything threatening on social media and instead immediately report such threats. The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) partnered with the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police to create awareness to this issue through a video PSA called Joining Together for School Safety please watch it with your child.
The OSSC provides an anonymous reporting system, the Safer Ohio School Tip Line (844-723-3764) to report concerns for safety. Crisis response professionals are available 24/7 to assist with getting concerns to local law enforcement and schools for investigation. You can call, text, use the Safer Ohio smartphone app or even submit via the webform to report concerns.
ELEMENTARY HANDBOOK
