It’s been a short, but productive week in Raider Nation. We completed MAP testing, our volleyball teams had their first game, and we wrapped up the week with a PBIS Funnel Cake Celebration. Next week, we’re excited for our football team’s first game at York and our volleyball team’s first home game—please come out to support them​. Progress reports will be available in the Parent Portal on September 11th. Please encourage your children to continue working hard and attending school every day.

Reminders:

• School Start Time: 8:15 a.m. Supervision begins at 7:45 a.m.
• Drop-Off Location: Car riders should be dropped off at the back of the school.
• Student Supervision: Staff will assist students from buses and cars to their grade-level hallways.
• Afternoon Dismissal: Please let your child know whether they will be a car rider or bus rider in the afternoon so we can direct them accordingly. Do not park in the Northwestern parking lot (near the baseball field) to wait for RRMS students.
• Cell Phones: No cell phones allowed during the school day. Students are not allowed to record or take pictures on school grounds, including the bus.
• Laptop Deployment: Laptop deployment is complete. If you haven’t yet paid the $20 technology fee, you can send it to school or pay online.

September is Suicide Prevention Month — a time to raise awareness of this very prevalent topic. Suicide Prevention Month asks us to assist in shifting public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. The goal of Suicide Prevention Month is also ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.

Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. In most situations, suicide is often the result of an untreated mental health condition. Suicidal thoughts should not be considered normal and often indicate more serious issues.

The UP2 class made their very own dream bottles today in class after reading about how the Big Friendly Giant captures and stores dreams!

Parents are nominated and elected by the parents at their child's school. State law requires that parent elections be held by October 15th of each year. Please nominate SIC parents below by September 13th.

Here is a QR code and link for our yearbook photo share site! This is new this school year. Any parents who take photos at sporting events or school events can share those photos to be placed in the yearbook! Parents will receive an email if their photo is used and what page!

Photo guidelines

• All content is reviewed by the yearbook staff. Anything inappropriate will be deleted.

• Don't use photos with filters, logos or hand gestures.

• Don't use screenshots - they are low resolution and not print quality.

• Don't use watermarked photos.

On Friday, September 13th , we will begin selling ice cream in the cafeteria during all three lunches. Ice cream cost is $1, cash only (exact change preferred). Ice cream is only offered on Friday. Please remember to bring/send ice cream money with your student as no student will be called to the office for ice cream money.

All student athletes must have created a Planet HS and completed all documents prior to practicing for sports! Click on the documents below to ensure your student is ready to play!

Purchase tickets at gofan.co and search for Rawlinson Road Middle School. The cost is $6 ($5 per ticket and $1 service fee). Kids 4 years old and under are free.

Middle Schools will have a $7 cash ticket available at the gate.

Progress Reports will be available Wednesday, September 11th in the Parent Portal. If you have not set up a Parent Portal account yet, please do so using the resources on the school's website.

Picture Day is Friday, September 27th.
