A Message From Mr. Lynch
What a fantastic week it has been here at Brimfield Elementary! Our classrooms have been filled with curiosity, creativity, and lots of learning. It is such a joy to see our students engaged and growing each day.
As we approach the holiday season, I want to remind you that we will have no school next Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, for Thanksgiving Break. We hope this time allows your family to relax, reflect, and enjoy time together.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for being such amazing parents. Your support means the world to us and plays a vital role in the success of our students.
Wishing you all a safe weekend!
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PARENTS
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We sincerely apologize for the system glitch earlier today that mistakenly caused many of you to receive a call indicating your child was absent. We understand how concerning this may have been, and we deeply regret any confusion it caused.
To address this error promptly, we sent a follow-up message through ParentSquare explaining the situation and assuring you it was a mistake. Please take a moment to check if you received this follow-up communication.
If you did not receive the follow-up message, we kindly ask that you reach out to the school office on Monday so we can gather additional information and ensure this issue is fully resolved.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to prevent similar issues in the future. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Mr. Lynch
Counselors Corner
Brimfield Families,
This month, we want to share an important topic with you that can greatly impact your child's future success: grit. Grit is a quality that helps individuals overcome challenges, persevere through difficulties, and achieve their goals. As parents, you play a crucial role in nurturing this valuable trait in your children. So, let's dive in and explore how we can foster grit together!
What is Grit?
Grit is a powerful combination of passion, perseverance, and resilience. It is the ability to keep going, even when faced with obstacles or setbacks. Gritty individuals possess a "never-give-up" attitude and are willing to put in the effort required to reach their goals. Developing grit in children is essential as it equips them with the tools they need to face the inevitable challenges they will encounter throughout their lives.
Why is Grit Important?
Resilience and Adaptability: Grit helps children develop resilience, enabling them to bounce back from failures, disappointments, and setbacks. It teaches them to see obstacles as opportunities for growth and to learn from their mistakes. Gritty children are better equipped to adapt to changes and navigate through life's ups and downs.
Perseverance and Achievement: When children possess grit, they are more likely to persist in their endeavors, even when faced with difficulties. Grit fuels their motivation, allowing them to work hard, stay focused, and achieve their goals. It instills a sense of determination and grit that carries them forward, even when the going gets tough.
Growth Mindset: Grit encourages a growth mindset, where children believe that their abilities can be developed through effort and practice. They understand that challenges and failures are part of the learning process and are not to be feared but embraced. Gritty children become lifelong learners, continuously seeking improvement and personal growth.
How Can Parents Foster Grit?
Encourage Passion and Purpose: Help your child discover their passions and interests. Encourage them to explore various activities and hobbies to find what truly excites them. When children have a sense of purpose and genuine enthusiasm, they are more likely to develop the motivation and perseverance necessary to succeed.
Model Gritty Behavior: Children learn by observing their parents. Demonstrate grit in your own life by setting goals, overcoming challenges, and staying committed to your own aspirations. Share stories of your own struggles and how you persevered, reinforcing the importance of resilience and determination.
Teach Growth Mindset: Encourage a growth mindset by praising effort, resilience, and perseverance rather than solely focusing on outcomes. Teach children that mistakes and failures are opportunities for learning and growth. Help them understand that their abilities can be improved through practice and hard work.
Foster a Supportive Environment: Create a nurturing environment where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process. Offer support and guidance when your child faces challenges, but also allow them to problem-solve and find their own solutions. Celebrate their progress and achievements, no matter how small, to reinforce their perseverance and resilience.
Conclusion:
We have the power to foster grit in our children, equipping them with a lifelong skill set that will support their success. By encouraging passion, modeling gritty behavior, teaching a growth mindset, and providing a supportive environment, we can help our child develop the resilience, perseverance, and determination they need to face challenges head-on. Together, let's raise a generation of young heroes who possess the grit to overcome any obstacle and achieve their dreams!
Warm Regard,
Mrs. Kuzas

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
