Terry Fox Run - Friday, September 13: Students are invited to wear their House t-shirts and Selwyn House Athletics wear to school tomorrow, Friday. They will be running the Terry Fox Run with their classes at Westmount Park. Students should bring a reusable water bottle to fill up at the water station. Donations to the Terry Fox Foundation can be made via our school fundraising page, and we encourage you to watch this video to find out more about Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. Elementary students will run at the following times:
Kindergarten, Grade 1 & Grade 2: 9:00 to 9:30 am
Grades 3 & 4: 9:30 to 10:00 am
Grades 5 & 6: 10:15 to 10:45 am
Elementary SEL Program Initiative - The Zones of Regulation: We are happy to inform you that we are implementing a social-emotional learning curriculum across the Selwyn House Elementary School. Through The Zones of Regulation Program, the boys will learn how to navigate, identify, and manage different emotions they may be feeling, and more importantly, find ways to regulate. You can find additional information about the curriculum here. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the Learning Strategists: Cassandra Gonos (K-Grade 3), Sasha Dodd-Kellam (Grades 4-6)
Attestation Day: Monday, September 30 is the official MEES (Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport) attendance verification day. On this day the school is required to report to the ministry the actual student attendance and subsequently register each student for the 2024-2025 academic year. Please avoid scheduling appointments on this day. Your child’s/children’s attendance will alleviate significant paperwork for families and the school. For questions, email Ms. Kelli Poulin (poulink@selwyn.ca).
Orange Shirt Day ~ Ordering a t-shirt: Students may wear ANY orange shirt on September 30 with their uniform pants and proper school shoes. Our orange shirt design is the same as last year, featuring a two row wampum. You may purchase a shirt via this Google Form. Shirts will be distributed to Homeroom Teachers. These orange shirts may also be worn throughout the year as part of the SHS physical education uniform. All proceeds will go towards an Indigenous organization in Kahnawake to be determined by the Indigenous Student Committee. If you have any questions, please contact Eden Schwartz.
Breakfast Service begins on Monday, September 16: Our kitchen will offer an optional breakfast service of hot and cold food and drink items to all SHS students between 7:15-8:00 am on school days. Elementary School students need to be accompanied by an adult. Student purchases will be logged and billed to corresponding Selwyn House accounts. No cash will be accepted. Throughout the year, on occasions when we cannot offer breakfast service due to special school events in the dining hall, we will notify families on our school calendar or via email.
Argyle Shop: Check out our new selection of hats, now available at the Argyle Shop! Choose from the updated Selwyn House School hat, an athletics hat featuring the Gryphon, or House caps. Not only are they stylish and perfect for showing your school spirit, but they’re also great for staying cool on a sunny day. With the Terry Fox Run tomorrow, make sure to grab yours today!
