Tiger Families,

Although, the week was short it was jammed packed. Tuesday, our 8th graders participated in the Marianist Retreat. If you haven't talked to your 8th grader about their experience, I highly recommend you do. Lots of great conversations took place.

On Wednesday we started the day with 2nd Grade helping out with our service in the gym, due the rain, and our wonderful STUCCO students hide Easter eggs for our younger grades to find. Then many of our upper grade students participated in our Pray Group and JSVDP.

We are truly blessed to have such wonderful students and teachers at St. Teresa.

Just a friendly reminder that there is no school April 6th - 10th. The office is closed and will reopen April 11th at 7:30 am. Have a BLESSED EASTER!

In this season of rebirth, may you feel your faith renewed and your heart made new with the hope Easter brings!

Donors who give to St. Teresa School through the Empower Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program receive a 75% tax credit for the amount of their gift, up to $1 million. In addition, any portion of the tax credit may be carried forward for up to five years. Therefore, the tax credit is an incentive for a donor to increase the amount they donate in tuition assistance. Donors can QUADRUPLE their impact with no extra money out-of-pocket. Additionally, all donations received by April 15, 2023 will be MATCHED by an anonymous donor!

St. Teresa School has participated in the Empower Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program for several years. The past couple of years, we have been able to offer a full tuition scholarship to several students who demonstrate significant financial need. We would like to at least double this amount in the coming year. Each year, we have a wait list of over 20 students! When you donate to Empower Illinois, you can direct that all of the funds go to St. Teresa School. For example, if you owe $1000 of Illinois state tax and you donate $1000 to St. Teresa via Empower, you could be eligible for a $750 state tax credit. If it sounds too good to be true...it’s true! We do encourage you to consult with your accountant or financial advisor as well. Empower is a great way to donate to St. Teresa over and above what you already donate to the parish and school, as most of your donation comes out of money you would have paid to the state of Illinois. This is a reminder that students should be wearing a white polo on Wednesday for Mass.

ARRIVAL:

Doors will open at 7:30am in the front. If you need to drop off earlier please sign up for Extended Care. Drop off for Extended Care is at the side doors of the gym closest to the playground.

DISMISSAL:

Students are dismissed from school at 3:00pm. Students who are not picked up by 3:10 will be walked down to Extended Care. Extended Care costs $10 per day, per child from 3:10 pm to 6 pm. Extended Care Handbook 2022-2023

LUNCH:

For the 2022 – 2023 school year, schools are required to return to charging for school meals. The program flexibility provided by the federal government has expired; therefore, meals are no longer free. St. Teresa School is accepting payment through FACTS. Parents can deposit money for meals in their FACTS Management Account.

Lunch Costs: School lunches will cost $3.35 per lunch this year with milk costing $0.70. This year students from Kindergarten to 8th grade will have four lunch choices; two rotating choices, a salad, or a sandwich.

Snacks will be available for on the spot cash purchase for 5th - 8th grade.

PreK will have three lunch choices; two rotating choices, or a sandwich.

St. Teresa School does not permit food deliveries from vendors such as DoorDash, UberEats, restaurant delivery, etc. If a fast food item is dropped off for your student to eat at school, they will be asked to eat it in the office.

Our next Children and Youth Mass is Sunday, March 26th at 11am Mass at St. Teresa. Altar servers must be trained in advance in order to serve at Mass. Any questions, please contact coordinators Lizzie Lehde or Jen Broida at stluketeresavolunteers@gmail.com

Illinois State Law states that all students in Illinois must attend 176 days of school. Due to some confusion with the movement of principals, students were scheduled to attend 179 days of school for the 2022-2023 school year. That being said, we DO NOT NEED TO MAKE UP SNOW DAYS.

The official last day of St. Teresa School will be May 24th.

Belleville East and West are putting on a chess clinic this summer for people entering grades 6-11 in District 201 or a feeder school. You can find more information at https://www.westchess.org/clinic.html if your student is interested.
