Worship Service July 7 Worship Service July 7

“Hearing Prophetic Voices” with Rev. Carol McKinley

The longing for justice, equity, and peace is not new; ancient peoples expressed their hopes in myths, songs and stories. Yet prophets who warned of looming dangers were shunned, much as today’s prophets whose warnings of social and environmental threats are ignored or belittled. How do we open ourselves to hear their truths and respond with courage?

The worship service starts at 10 am.

Pastoral Care Team Pastoral Care Team

Congregants, please remember that Rev. Mary’s absence does not mean that spiritual or emotional support is absent, too! The Pastoral Care Team (PCT) is a caring group of individuals who serve at the invitation of Reverend Mary and extend the care of the congregation to those who are in special need.

If you would like support from the Pastoral Care Team, you can identify members on Sunday mornings or at other church events by looking for the green Pastoral Care stoles they wear. If you are not physically at church, you can reach out via email, and a team member will get back to you shortly to see how they can be of service.

Your Pastoral Care Team members are as follows:

Here at OUUC each third and fourth Wednesday of the month volunteers put their Faith in Action by bringing a main or side dish for the guests at the Interfaith Works Unity Commons Shelter, and/or shelf stable foods for children and teen’s weekend backpacks. New volunteers are always welcome to join the team. Please contact Jo Ann Young for more information.

Seeking Facilitators for Soul Matters Groups next church year

Would you be interested in leading a Soul Matters group next year? These are small groups that explore the theme of the month, meeting once a month (schedule to be set by facilitators). Facilitators can work solo or with a co-faciliatator. Experience with Soul Matters is good but not required. Contact Rev. Sara if you are interested in leading a group!

Quick Notes Quick Notes

The OUUC office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the federal holiday.

Rev. Sara is taking study leave for big writing and planning projects this week, and will not be in the office, taking appointments, or responding to all emails. Thanks for your patience!

Beware of periodic scammers via email and text. You may be contacted by scammers impersonating Rev. Mary or other church staff. Scammers also try to reach people via text. Often, they will ask for you to contact them right away, and they may ask for financial assistance/information or contact information of others at the church. Always double check and make sure the email or text was sent from a source you recognize. Scammers will create new addresses that appear like a known email address. When in doubt, check in with the person in your life who appears to be trying to contact you, using a known contact method. Any message claiming to be Rev. Mary during the sabbatical period (June 16--November 1) will be from a scammer.

OUUC’s address changed as of January 1, 2024. OUUC’s new address is 2306 East End St NW. The City of Olympia directed us to make this change. This is due to the regulations regarding emergency access. If you use an automated bill-paying service for your pledge payments (your financial institution sends OUUC a check on your behalf), you will need to update the address.

Safety Reminder: Please lock and remove valuables from your vehicles.
