Wolverine Weekly Updates
Week of March 24-28
A Message from Mrs. Ushery
Greetings Wynbrooke Family,
We had a fantastic week of Spring MAP Growth testing. it's still March Madness and we’re marching towards GA Milestones, which is only 23 instructional days away! We need all students here EVERY DAY, ready to learn. Please see the Milestones dates and utilize the Milestones Resources at home (see section below), including the GA Online Experience you can complete with your child.
This week is our Math and Literacy Night! Please make plans to attend as our teachers have prepared a fun and engaging experience for all. We hope to see you there! Parents will receive a volunteer hour for attending, and students will earn a no homework pass to use for one assignment.
Please join me in welcoming our newest sub-administrator, Dr. Rodney Swanson, to the team. Dr. Swanson and Ms. Maclin will serve as our sub-administrators for the remainder of the school year, supporting us as we finish strong.
🔹 Attendance Reminder:
We need your support in ensuring your child arrives at school on time. Students can be dropped off between 7:00 - 7:45 AM and are considered tardy at 7:46 AM. To help ease morning traffic, we encourage families to arrive early.
🔹 Morning Car Rider Drop-Off Reminder:
Morning car rider drop-off ends at 7:45 AM. If you arrive after this time, you must park and walk your child inside to sign them in for school. Let's work together to ensure our scholars start their day on time and ready to succeed!
🔹 March Madness Lexile Challenge:
We’re going strong with our March Madness Lexile Challenge! Help us boost our students' Lexile levels by ensuring they read 20-30 minutes daily. Teachers will share additional resources to support comprehension skills. Let’s build a strong reading culture and elevate student achievement!
Thank you for your continued support in making Wynbrooke a great place to learn and grow!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Devetra Ushery

We Need Your Input: Take the Georgia School Climate Survey!
Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School will take the new Georgia School Climate Survey this year. Your input is crucial in helping us improve and prepare for the next school year.
Each parent or guardian is invited to take the family version to answer questions about the current school or schools you have a child or children attending. If two or more children attend the same school, please only complete one survey for that school.
The survey measures what you think about how the school engages with families. Answers are not linked to names in any way. When typing answers, please do not give names or information that you don’t want to share with this school. Data will be shared with school leaders to help improve the school and will be published on the GaDOE website.
Please help by sharing your honest opinion on this 22-question survey. To take the survey, please https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=DAA293DD

Greetings Wynbrooke Families!
Thank you to all the families that have donated items and/or time this week. We appreciate all you do! Remember you are required to complete 8 volunteer hours for each semester for a total of 16 to be completed May 16, 2025. For every $10 that is spent, you will earn 1 volunteer hour or the time spent assisting during school events can also count towards your hours. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at Jaumekia_M_Caver@dekalbschoolsga.org
If there is a sibling at another Dekalb County Theme School, you will only need to complete 8 hours here and also 8 hours at the other school. I can provide a letter to show completion of 8 hours here.
Please use the link below to see our current volunteer opportunities. Please remember when dropping off items in the front office to label them with your child’s name and homeroom teacher along with the receipt to ensure you get your credit.

Media Center Updates
From the desk of Ms. Jelks, Media Specialist
Dear Parents,
Reading opens the door to new worlds, sparks creativity, and keeps our minds engaged even while we rest. We encourage all students to make reading a daily habit and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities available through Beanstack!
Students, we invite you to track your reading on Beanstack to stay motivated and monitor your progress over time. By logging in through Clever, you can record the books you read each day, participate in monthly reading challenges, and even earn badges and rewards! We encourage students of all grade levels to read independently for at least 20 minutes each day.
Parents, you play a vital role in fostering a love for reading. You can support your child’s reading journey by setting aside dedicated reading time, engaging in discussions about books, or making visits to your local library a part of your routine.
We look forward to hearing about the amazing books your children discover!
Happy Reading!
Ms. Ashlee Jelks
