Support a Local Teen in Need at The Great Greek Mediterranean Grillβs Grand Opening Fundraiser!
Exciting news! π The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is opening its newest location at The Bend, one of the Southwest valley's hottest dining, entertainment, and shopping spots! π΄π
To celebrate, from Friday, Jan. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 26, The Great Greek will be hosting a special fundraiser to support local teen Junaisy Vargas. After bravely battling cancer, Junaisy now faces the challenge of needing a heart transplant. π
During this weekend, 10% of all proceeds will be donated to help her family with unexpected medical expenses. Itβs a great chance to enjoy delicious food while supporting a truly worthy cause!

Alum Returns to LVA with New Book and Impactful Talk
Mark your calendars for this special free event from LVA Alum, actor, and Tyler Merritt.
LVA Alum Tyler Merritt will be giving a talk on his new book, This Changes Everything, on January 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Lowden Theater.
The Writerβs Block will have books available for sale and signing before the talk, so donβt miss the chance to meet Tyler and get your copy signed!
This event is free and open to the public, and weβd love to see you there!
During the day he will speak to students during a special assembly about his life at LVA and his writing. During his last visit in 2022, students and faculty walked away with his stories of the beginnings of LVA and his impactful message of connecting with others and learning their stories.

The spring semester will fly by, and we want to make sure the Class of 2025, along with their parents and guardians, have all the important information they need right at their fingertips!
On Tuesday evening watch for the first of five updates leading to graduation. Students and their families need to review these updates and keep track of all deadlines.

REMINDER - January Deadlines - Apply for Public Education Foundation Scholarships Now
The Public Education Foundation Scholarships are open!
Students have less than one month left to submit for scholarships, until January 31;
Please use the "placeholder hack" and get your account created TODAY!
Once you have created your account, it will populate with scholarships for which you are eligible. Please apply for those scholarships and check your PEF account frequently for new options.

Class of 2025 Disney Grad Trip Deposit Due!
The Class of 2025 has the opportunity to attend a special Disney Grad Day Trip on May 29, 2025.

Summa Cum Laude
What an awesome way to celebrate! Over 240 students earned straight A's last semester, and to show off their hard work, they got treated to a pizza and bingo party in the cafeteria on January 17th! ππ Students had a blast playing bingo for fun prizes, plus there were drawings for gift cards from cool spots like Blue Man Group, LvLup, Spring Preserves, and some tasty local restaurants. How exciting is that? Big congrats to all the straight-A students! πππππ

What a fantastic celebration! π On Monday, January 13, the December Student of the Month luncheon took place in the Library, honoring 42 amazing students nominated by teachers and staff. These students were recognized for their leadership, improvement, commitment, and willingness to help others. It's so inspiring to see them all embodying the LVA Way! π Huge congratulations to these outstanding students for their hard work and positive impactβkeep shining! ππ
Community Opportunities
SNRHA Public Housing Opening
The Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority is opening its 2025 PBV and Public Housing Waitlist. On-line entries (ONLY) will be accepted beginning on Wednesday January 15, 2025 at 8 a.m. through Friday January 31, 2025 at 5 p.m. All applications submitted successfully will be placed on the waiting list.
The waiting list will remain open indefinitely for families who meet the local preference of Involuntary Displacement. See the attached document for more details.
