At VACDES, the teachers and staff are proud of the school's historic presence in the school's neighborhood. At the same time, the school embraces the challenge of preparing students for the world of the mid-21st Century--and beyond.
We are a staff dedicated to helping each student grow to her or his maximum potential academically, physically, emotionally, and socially to meet local and global challenges both now and in the future. We are the Little Judges striving to graduate as a Handley Judge. We have high expectations for our students and staff. We want students to be here every single day and learn the most they can. VACDES is excited to be a Dual Language and Global Education School. Through our Dual Immersion program, students are taught 50% of the time in Spanish and 50% of the time in English. The goal is that, by the time they leave us at the end of 4th grade, the students in the Dual Immersion program will read, write, speak, and listen in two languages: English and Spanish.
As a Global Education School, students make connections between the core content and cultures, geography, and people across the world. Our goal is to build understanding of the diversity of our world and to promote responsiveness to global challenges and successes.
