Lincoln Lions Family Newsletter
August 25, 2024
Welcome! Hola! Jambo! Salaam!
Dear Lincoln Families,
Welcome back to school, Lincoln Families! The official first day of school is Monday, August 26th. It is a half-day with an 11:24 a.m. dismissal time. If your child rides a bus, you should have received information about pickup and drop-off locations and times. Please contact Ms. Barb in the school office for assistance or further clarification.
Supervision begins on the back playground at 7:44 am. For the safety and security of your children, please do not drop off students on the back playground before this time. Students are welcomed into the building at 8:00 through the backdoors after they are lined up with their classes. For the first week of school, classroom teachers will also be on the back playground to model entry procedures and take them up to their classrooms. Parents will not be allowed to walk students to their classrooms once inside the building, but are welcome to stand, take 1st day pictures, etc. prior to the bell while outside.
5th Graders need to bring their Chromebooks to school to be exchanged for new ones this week! Students will also be given a black carrying case daily to transport their devices to and from school. It is expected that these devices last through middle school, so please assist us in requiring them to take extra good care of their Chromebooks. 5th-grade teachers will send home information outlining student and parent responsibilities.
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, August 30th and Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day Weekend.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email, call, or make an appointment to meet. I look forward to partnering with you this year in your child's education.
Respectfully,
Principal D. Roberts
ROAR--School Positive Behavior Expectations
For those of you that are new or a refresher for returning families, we ROAR at Lincoln!
- ROAR stands for Responsible, On-Task, Always Caring, and Respectful
- Often teachers and staff will pass out ROAR tickets to students being role models and following our school's positive behavior expectations.
- The first week of school all staff will spend significant time modeling, reviewing and celebrating our positive behavior expectations for different areas including lunch, recess, hallway, office and bathroom expectations.
- If your child ever brings home a ROAR Ticket or an item purchased from the ROAR Store make sure to give them lots of congratulations, and let them know how proud you are, that they are going above and beyond to help build a positive learning environment here at Lincoln.
- PLEASE NOTE: If any student is suspended for egregious behaviors such as fighting, verbal or physical aggression toward staff, etc. during the first two weeks of school, parents and students will require a meeting with the principal and district superintendent, Dr. Darrin Slade before the student returns to school.
