Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey
Hawks View Families,
Please take a few minutes to complete the Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey using the link in the body of this newsletter. Our partners at Studer Education are providing an opportunity for you to provide feedback anonymously. This survey will replace the Spring survey Mrs. Mitchell sent last year for feedback about your experience at Hawks View and in the Sherwood School District. We would greatly appreciate your time & participation. Your feedback will be used to celebrate our successes and to create action plans for improvement.
The survey will remain open until Thursday, April 11th. Thank you for your commitment to our success!
Around the School Spotlight
Thursday (3/21) was World Down Syndrome Awareness Day! We loved having the opportunity to celebrate our kindergarten friend, Hasen. In coordination with his Mom, many of us wore mismatched socks because chromosomes kind of look like socks and because people with Down syndrome have an extra one, different socks are a fun way to represent and acknowledge them. Hasen is such a treasured member of his classroom and our school community.
Hasen’s mom, Nicole, shared that “Hasen is truly a blessing and makes everyone around him better people. He shows us the importance of pure intentions with so much love. He also shows us how to be steadfast with really big feelings and moving through them…Hasen deserves to be seen beyond his disability and in doing so makes us better human beings.”
DLI Interest Night - April 4th, 5:00-6:00pm
Are you curious about the Dual Language Immersion Program? Do you have interest in completing an application for your incoming Kindergarten child? We invite you to attend our DLI Interest Night to better understand what the program entails. The invitation is for both the child and parents/caregivers. A teacher from the program will teach a lesson (in Spanish), describe a typical day/schedule and offer opportunities for questions. This is a great opportunity to see if this might be the right fit for your family!
Don’t Forget! State Testing for Grades 3-8 Starts in April
State testing for elementary and middle school students is just around the corner! We are committed to making sure families are well-informed about the state tests that your child(ren) will be taking. Please take a moment to visit our newly-expanded State Assessment Information website, which includes resources from the Oregon Department of Education to help you better understand the testing process and how test results are used.
What is Assessment?
The video below from the Oregon Department of Education provides more information about how assessments are used in our schools.
