Tackling Exams
It's exam week, and students can experience a lot of different emotions. Here are some tips and tricks to help them be successful while taking exams.
- Get a good night's sleep - Sleep is the fuel your brain needs to function at its best. Going to bed at a reasonable hour will help your mind recharge and increase optimal performance.
- Eat breakfast - There's a reason they say it's the most important meal of the day! Being hungry could distract you from doing your best on exams.
- Wear something comfortable - It can help you focus to be in comfortable clothes, but you also want to be ready to work. Layers are a good way to help regulate temperature.
- Study to learn, not to memorize - The best way to learn is to make connections between the content and something meaningful to you. If you can find a way to tie the material to real-world examples or personal stories, the information can be cemented in your mind.
- Optimize your time - Read each question carefully on your exam, including the directions. If you feel unsure about a question, it can help to mark it and come back to it when you're finished.
