Helpful reminders and points to consider!
This week…
- Calendared Subject Day - Some trainees have had their Subject Day already or will be having their Subject Day at a future date, so those trainees will be teaching as normal on 27th April. Some trainees will be having their Subject Day this week on Thursday 27th April and will not be teaching in school. If you have been told by your Lead Tutor that your Subject Day has been calendared for Thursday 27th April, please make sure you have communicated this with your Mentor / ITT Co-ordinator at school, so that they are aware that you will be absent on this day. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
- Also all trainees will be at their Lead School on Friday 28th April and will not be teaching on this day. Again, trainees please ensure your Mentors and ITT Coordinators are aware of this.
- Continue to set focused targets during your mentoring meetings to support you in addressing key areas.
- Remember it is important to share these targets with all of the host teachers in the department (a good idea is to write this down on the top of the lesson observation sheet / highlight this on the lesson plan you give to the observer) to ensure lesson observation feedback is focused and allows you to evidence the targets you and your Mentor has set.
- Spend some time looking at your Evidence Portfolio, decide on areas you need to develop further. Discuss this with your Mentor on how this can be demonstrated and evidenced in your planning, lesson delivery and other commitments at school.
- If you are still experiencing behaviour management issues with a class or pupil(s), discuss with your Mentor if it is worth while observing a colleague teaching this class or pupil(s). It will provide you with an invaluable insight on how the class or individual(s) interact in another subject area or setting and will hopefully provide you with some ideas to use in your own teaching.

Evidencing the Teachers' Standards
Each week we will focus on one of the Teachers’ Standards, to look at ways on how this specific 'Standard' could be evidenced in supporting you in becoming outstanding in this area. This week we will take a look at: TS7 Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
How can we evidence TS7?
For your evidence portfolio the TS7 Standard can be evidenced in your Lesson Plans, Lesson Evaluations, Lesson Observations and if appropriate in your Supplementary Evidence.
Here are some other ideas which may help you gain TS7 evidence.
