A Cimarron Middle School community communication
5A Bond Information
On August 27, the Douglas County School District Board of Education unanimously voted 7-0 to place a $490 million Bond on the November 2024 ballot.
If passed by voters, this new funding would be used at our school to:
Enhance safety and security
Refresh student and staff technology
Upgrade fire alarm system
Upgrade HVAC controls
Install new intercom system
If passed by voters, a $490 million Bond would be used to upgrade aging schools and facilities; build additional career and technical education pathways; upgrade school safety and security; and construct and expand neighborhood schools. The Bond would provide for two new elementary schools in growing areas of our county, as well as the expansion of one existing middle school.
A $490 million Bond would not increase current property taxes.
You can read more about DCSD’s funding challenges on our website. Thank you for being an engaged and informed member of our school community!
Student Safety Reminder
Attention Parents/Guardians of students who walk, bike, skate to school
We've noticed an increase in students who are not using sidewalks, crosswalks, or paying attention to traffic signals. Please talk with your students about the reminders listed below. Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe during carpool times.
Stay on all sidewalks
Be sure to push crosswalk buttons and only cross an intersection when the signal or staff member says to do so
Do not walk, ride, or skate in between cars waiting in line to exit the parking lots

PLC Work At Cimarron
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are a powerful approach to improving student outcomes. In a PLC at Cimarron, teachers collaborate regularly to analyze student data, share teaching strategies, and support each other in refining their practices. This teamwork ensures that all students receive the best possible instruction. Our teachers dedicate a full plan time each week to ensure that all students are learning at high levels.
Instructional Support
As you may be aware, our school and our district uses iReady as our interim assessment tool to track students’ growth and progress. This is a message to let you know that if you are interested in purchasing the iReady instructional feature for your student for this school year, you may do so in MySchoolBucks. The cost is $20.25 for math and $20.25 for reading for a total of $40.50 for those who wish to purchase both subjects. However, parents may elect to purchase only one subject if they choose.
The i-Ready instructional feature can be a great supplement to their in person instruction and help students growth and achievement in math and/or reading. We recommend no more than 45 minutes a week for this intervention/support. This is a web based feature so it can easily be done from home as long as there is internet access.
Please make this decision no later than Friday September 27th so we can get this feature set up for those who wish to have it. If you have any questions about this option, feel free to contact Jessica Ranalletta at jranalletta@dcsdk12.org
Sincerely,
