Paradise Place ETNS Newsletter
News this week - 20 June 2024
Dear parents, carers, staff and friends,
International Food Fair - tomorrow!
Don't forget! Join us tomorrow and bring a dish! This is always one of the highlights of our year - we can't wait to see you all there. We are aiming to start at 1.00 p.m. so you are welcome to arrive from 12.45 p.m. to get set up.
Parent Survey
We welcome your feedback on how we are doing as a school. Please take a few minutes to complete this very short survey:
Uniform Options
Following our consultation with parents/carers, staff and children - we have been working with a number of suppliers to seek designs for a new uniform option. The consensus in our meetings was to have a 'hoodie' with a number of colour options that families could choose from. There are two options here:
1. A larger logo in the middle of the hoodie
2. A smaller logo to one side (similar to what we have already)
We will have some samples at the office and outside over the next few days - please come and have a look and let us know what you think and which one you'd prefer!
Performances - Invitation
Thank you to the parents/carers in Claire Murphy's Senior Infants/1st Class who came for our end of year family event this week. We are pleased to invite Alannah Drumm's 1st Class, Sile McDonnell's Junior Infants and Carla Manifold's Senior Infants parents/carers to join them for their end of year event on Tuesday, 25th June at 9.00 a.m.
The classes from 2nd - 6th are performing on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. The performance is being led by our very talented 6th Class children, and features some of their learning from across their time in our school. Each of the younger classes will sing a song to highlight the learning from their class group. It's shaping up to be a great performance - we can't wait for you to see it!
Admissions Policy
Last month, parents/carers were invited to a series of meetings in relation to uniform and the reconfiguration process. At those meetings, I explained that we have a new Admissions Policy for next year that we need to consult the community about. This policy is the document that we use to decide how we allocate places in Junior Infants each year and which children are prioritised for places. I also explained that it is a long and difficult document, as it has a lot of legal language in it.
The key changes are:
- Siblings are the only group who are prioritised for places in our school.
- We no longer have to give priority to children living in the parish. Applications are welcome from children and families, wherever they live
- If we are over-subscribed and don't have space for everyone, places will be given to children in order of age, starting with the oldest.
Please have a read through the policy and if you have any questions or feedback, please speak to Eadaoin or Brid or contact us through the school office. Thank you.
