β° Daylight Saving Time & Student Performance
On March 10, 2024, we spring forward one hour for Daylight Saving Time (DST). While longer daylight hours are great, the lost hour of sleep can impact studentsβ focus, mood, and academic performance. π€π
π How DST Affects Students:
Disrupts Sleep Patterns β Losing an hour can make it harder to wake up and stay alert in class.
Reduces Focus & Memory β Studies show that even small sleep disruptions affect cognitive function.
Increases Stress & Fatigue β Lack of sleep can lead to irritability and reduced motivation.
π‘ Tips to Adjust Your Sleep Schedule:
Start adjusting early β Go to bed 15β30 minutes earlier a few days before DST.
Limit screen time β Avoid phones & tablets 1 hour before bed to help your body wind down.
Stick to a routine β Keep a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends.
Get morning sunlight β Natural light helps reset your internal clock.
