TITLE READING: PARTNERING WITH FAMILIES
Dear Chávez Families,
César Chávez Elementary strives to provide the best possible learning environment that we can. Partnering with families is a very important part of making sure all of our students receive the best possible opportunities to learn. At parent/teacher conferences your child's teacher shared a link with you inviting you to read over and sign a Family/Student/School agreement with your child.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to sign the agreement, please click on the link below so you can participate in this important opportunity to partner with us. Once you have read over the agreement with your child we invite you to type your child's name and your name before submitting the form to help us know which families have had this opportunity.
If your child's teacher has already sent you this link and you have already looked it over and signed it, you DO NOT have to do it again.
Here is the link to the agreement in English: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeX3P0q1NAMnu_AV4c2a-o9h_SwobjrlZok-S1i8u09KaRO1Q/viewform?usp=sf_link

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this with your child.
Warmly,
Alice Williamson and Debra McIntosh

GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY
Here are some facts about the Food Pantry:
- It is operated by Eugene Faith Center.
- It serves about 100 - 150 clients, every other Thursday.
- They work with Food for Lane County.
- FDA also contributes. This insures that families are receiving healthy nutritious meals.
- They order fresh produce and fruits for families.
- Donations come from church members as well, so they are also giving back to their community.
- It's pretty much like a grocery store where the people can go in and shop for what their family needs.

COUNSELING CORNER WITH SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER MS. SHANNON
Happy New Year! I hope your family had some opportunities to feel refreshed, connected, and joyful over the break. We have missed our students and look forward to seeing them all soon!
In terms of SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the focus in January is on re-connecting and re-establishing community, reviewing routines and expectations, and finishing up with the portion of our SEL curriculum focused on child protection and safety. I'll continue with classroom visits as well, focused on mindfulness and Sources of Strength.
As mentioned previously, we'll be starting Conscious Discipline parent nights this month. Save the date! Thursday, January 27 from 6:00-7:00 via Zoom. The wonderful Ms. Angie is working on a flyer and evite which will be sent out the week of Jan. 10.
I've continued to update my virtual office where you'll find a variety of resources, especially in the caregiver corner. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss your student or family's needs. I'm available via email: sell_s@4j.lane.edu or by phone at 541-790-5383 (direct office line).
Wishing you well,
Ms. Shannon
