Principal's Message
Welcome to Week 37 of the school year!
We are down to our final stretch with 9 days of school left in the year. Our students have been working diligently on their End of Year assessments and diagnostics. Their hard work is being reflected in the preliminary results of these assessments. Way to go, Tigers!
In preparing to end of the school year, we are bringing back our Lunch on the Lawn. We invite you to bring a picnic blanket and a meal to enjoy with your student during their lunch on Tuesday. Please the flyer below for more information.
As a reminder, if you would like your student to eat breakfast before school and you are transporting them to school, please drop your student off with ample time for them to eat. Students arriving after the school day starts at 8:00 am will be considered tardy and directed straight to their classrooms for instruction.
Have a great week, Davis Tigers! Go to Davis, Go to College!

Summer STEAM Camp (K-8)
Does your child enjoy art, coding, Legos, robots, designing and building? Sign them up for STEAM camp this summer! These week-long camps will run from 8am - 12pm M-F during the weeks of June 10 and June 24 across multiple sites in Lodi Unified. Registration is open for incoming 2nd -8th graders now through May 17 at bit.ly/LodiSTEAM2024.
6th Grade News
We are less than 10 school days until 6th Grade Promotion and the end of the school year! Our 6th graders are eager to promote and end their elementary years at Davis. We are looking forward to our end of the year festivities with our 6th graders, including the 6th grade vs. Staff kickball game, 6th grade picnic, and promotion.
As our Tigers prepare to leave Davis, we want to remind 6th grade students and their families that our expectations for their behavior remain the same as they have all year. Students who do not meet behavioral expectations may lose the opportunity to participate in our end of the year activities. An informational letter and contract went home last week reminding students and families of the expectations for our 6th grade students and the consequences for misbehavior. Be sure to sign and return the signature page with your 6th grade student.
Summer Intersession
Chromebooks
We want to bring to your attention the importance of discussing the proper care of district-issued student Chromebooks with your children. We have observed an increase in incidents involving damage, often linked to carelessness or misuse. As we address these situations, we want to remind you of the importance of engaging in discussions with your child about the proper care of their district-issued Chromebook. Students will be held responsible for any damages, and charges may apply for repairs. Principals will conduct thorough investigations in collaboration with students to ensure fair outcomes. Additionally, please remind your students to charge their Chromebooks overnight, ensuring they are ready for the next day's learning activities. Your involvement in these discussions is crucial, and we appreciate your attention to these matters.

Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.
Lunch Options For The Week
Announcements
Please send your student to school in appropriate attire, including shoes! Our dress code can be found in the Student Handbook in your student's planner or online. Students are expected to wear closed toed/heeled shoes. Students with sandals, slides, or Crocs will be asked to sit out during recess and PE to ensure student safety on the playground and in the bark box.
Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
COVID-19 Guidelines for California Schools (K-12)
We want to bring your attention to the recent updates in the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 guidelines for K-12 schools. The revised guidance now allows individuals who test positive for COVID-19 but remain asymptomatic to return to work and school without the need to stay home. However, it is crucial to note that students showing symptoms are strongly encouraged to wear masks. This adjustment in guidelines reflects a more flexible approach to managing the virus, aiming to strike a balance between public health concerns and our evolving understanding of its impact. For additional information, please read updated California Division of Public Health – COVID-19 Isolation Guidance by following this link: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID-19-Isolation-Guidance.aspx. Your ongoing cooperation is vital in ensuring the safety of our school community.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time. If students are arriving to school late, they are missing critical time that sets the structure for their day, including instruction and warm-up activities.
