CES: Attendance Matters
We are off to a great start with our "Attendance Matters" focus. We will begin to implement a weekly incentive for our classrooms that have the best attendance. The weekly incentive will be divided by hallways or teams. Kindergarten and first grade will be one team, second and third will be another team and finally fourth through sixth will be the final team. The weekly incentive will be given to the class on each team that has the best attendance.
We know there are times when students are sick, but our goal is to keep them here as much as possible. Students who miss little school need fewer intervention services and tend to be more on grade level than those who often miss school. Here is a link that explains the importance of school attendance and the positive impact it has on student achievement. https://www.attendanceworks.org/chronic-absence/the-problem/10-facts-about-school-attendance/
Homecoming Week!
We are so excited about all of the activities and dress up days for this week! We encourage your children to participate in as many of these activities and dress up days as possible. I would like to let you know of a couple of changes to the schedule for Friday. Our pep rally is now scheduled for 8:20. All students will need to come to school as normal and plan on going to the pep rally with their teacher. Parents will be given a section in the gym for seating. The pep rally will then dismiss at 8:50. Teachers will take their students to get lined up for the parade. If your child is participating in the parade, we will drop them off outside the gym parking lot. There will be no need to get them inside the gym since we will deliver them to you. After the parade ends, all students will need to go back to their classrooms. I know there are a lot of questions about Friday, and I hope this helps give you some clarity of what to expect.
A Big THANK YOU!!
We would like to thank everyone that participated in the voting for who wore the purple unicorn contest. We were able to raise $523.55 for the Blount County Education Foundation! Mr. Cornwell did such a wonderful job wearing it too!! We will be presenting our check next week at the Radiothon. Our time slotted to present at the Radiothon will be approximately 1:15. We hope you can listen at that time!
