Principal's Message
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving as we approach the second half of October.
It was an eventful last week with events, such as Read-in-Week, guest speakers and field trips starting to take off. Kudos to our cross-country team for their efforts at their recent competition along with our volleyball teams who are representing the school ‘the right way’ across Elk Island in league and tournament play. As a reminder, we have clubs and activities starting throughout the year. These updates are found in our Daily Announcements accessible via our website.
We kick this week off with School Council tonight at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome! You can find the agenda for this evening here. While the Oilers are also playing at the same time, with the start they have had, our school council will be more entertaining. Ouch!
Parent-Student-Teacher interviews are scheduled for October 24 and 29 starting at 4:00 p.m. Later this week, more information will be sent on how you can book a time with your child’s teacher.
Furthermore, and also looking ahead, we will honour our academic student award winners from the 2023-24 school year on November 21. Stay tuned for specific times and how you can watch your child cross the stage.
Shifting gears, and as a background, Sherwood Heights is rich with tradition and unique for all that it offers. With four division programs and multiple avenues for students to find their passions and interests, we strive for student’s ability to ‘Reach for the Heights’.
In support of our BAND program, we are excited to announce our latest fundraising initiative to support the Sherwood Heights Junior High Band – a Purdy's Chocolate fundraiser!
Fundraising will help subsidize the cost of band trips and competitions, giving our students fantastic opportunities to learn and grow through music.
