Davis Bilingual Magnet
November Newsletter
Dear Davis Families,
Happy November! It’s hard to believe how quickly the year is moving along. We’re thrilled with the progress and energy our students bring to school each day. Here are a few highlights and updates for this month.
Fall Carnival Success
Thank you to everyone for making our Noche de Aguilitas such a fantastic event! With over 900 students, families, and friends joining us, the evening was filled with fun and community spirit. A special thanks to our PTA and all the volunteers who made it possible—your support helped create unforgettable memories for all.
Celebrating Success
We’re excited to share that Davis has once again earned a “B” rating from the state of Arizona! This accomplishment reflects the hard work of our teachers and students. We’re on the path toward achieving an “A” rating, and with your continued support, we’re confident we can reach this goal. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Supporting Learning at Home
To keep building skills outside of school, we encourage students to read for at least 20 minutes every night. Additionally, logging into I-Ready and Imagine through CLEVER will reinforce skills in Literacy and Math. Working to master two skills per week in each subject can make a significant impact on their learning. Your support in encouraging these habits at home is appreciated!
Math & Science Night – New Date
Join us for Math and Science Night on November 21 from 5:00–6:30 p.m. This event will feature fun math and science games that you can also play at home to support learning. Our fantastic teachers will be leading activities, and pizza will be served for dinner. We look forward to an engaging evening with our Davis families!
Focus on Gratitude and Kindness
November is a perfect time to focus on gratitude and kindness. Our teachers and counselors are helping students reflect on what they’re thankful for and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and share moments of gratitude together.
Reminders
- Attendance: Regular attendance is essential for success. Please ensure your child arrives on time each day, ready to learn. The first bell rings at 8:30am. The tardy bell rings at 8:35am.
- Weather: With cooler temperatures, please send your child with a jacket or sweater labeled with their name.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I am grateful for our wonderful Davis community and the opportunity to work with your children each day. Wishing you all a warm and joyful November!
Sincerely,
Marisela Campillo

A Message From Our Counselor
Dear Davis Families,
It has been a pleasure working with your students over the past two months! My focus has been on getting to know each child and establishing a supportive counseling program here at Davis Bilingual. Every week, I’ve enjoyed teaching lessons in classrooms, where we’ve covered important topics like:
- Kindness: Exploring what it means to be kind and ways we can show care and compassion.
- Respect: Discussing the importance of respect and examples of how we can practice it in our daily interactions.
- Bullying: Understanding bullying, its effects, and discussing strategies to create a positive, supportive school environment.
In addition to teaching, I also work individually with students to provide additional support as needed. For the beautiful month of November, our focus will shift to Gratitude. We’ll be exploring what it means to be grateful and how practicing gratitude can improve our lives and relationships. I also look forward to starting small group sessions where students can learn and practice new social skills. Additionally, I am excited about the possibility of partnering with community organizations like Ben's Bells to bring even more enriching programs to our students.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s experience further, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I am here to support you and your family.
Together, let’s keep building better humans!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Carr

What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
