HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK!
(EXTRA LARGE EDITION)
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
Last weekend, the WHS Musical Theater department performed "Working, A Musical" at the Mosessian Center for the Arts. Based on the Pulitzer prize winning author and oral historian, Studs Terkel's deeply relevant documentation of ordinary people and their relationship with their jobs, the show remains a deeply relevant piece of art. Congratulations to our cast and crew and to Mr. Wulf and Ms.Wilson who navigated an unfamiliar venue and facilitated a spectacular show. Bravo!!
SOUTHWICK ZOO VISIT
On Tuesday, March 12th, two representatives from EARTH Limited (out of Southwick's Zoo) visited the high school to present to biology students on animal adaptations. The live animal species included a rainbow boa, a frilled lizard, an eclectus parrot, a skunk, and a cape porcupine. The students were excited to learn about and see each of these species. Funding for this presentation was provided by the Watertown Community Foundation. Thank you WCF for this wonderful learning opportunity!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Please help to congratulate and celebrate our two amazing high school musicians who participated in our Eastern Regional Senior District Concert. Vivian Flan and Avery MacDonald were selected from a myriad of singers who auditioned for this honor. They represented Watertown High School to the highest degree!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to two WHS 9th graders, Defne Liddle and Maddox Caron, who participated in the MMEA Eastern District Junior Chorus this past week! Students spent all day Friday (9:30-5:30) and much of Saturday working with Lexington High School's choral director, Sarah Labrie, on a concert program that they then performed on Saturday afternoon. The junior chorus was made up of about 80 students from 7-9th grade who attend schools in the eastern part of the state.
These students represented WHS well!
CHEERS FOR OUR CHEERLEADERS
Our Cheerleading Team placed 7th in the Coed Division and got their highest score of the season! Very impressive.
ARTISTS FOR HUMANITY
On Tuesday, March 5th, our AP Studio Art class visited the studios of Artists for Humanity in the Seaport District of Boston. This was a visit to help decide who will be interested in a sustained internship re-imagining the Peter Clough Memorial at the entrance to our Middle School. Students toured the painting, drawing, three-dimensional, graphic design and photography studios as well as viewing prior installations in the waterfront area.
