Howbert Happenings

Recently, the programing for the newsletter developed a glitch that does not allow the links to work in the newsletter when viewing in an email.

The fix for now is to click on View in browser. When you do this, the newsletter will open in a web browser and the links will function.

Below is a visual of you will look for that is located at the top of the newsletter embedded in an email that you will click on to open the newsletter in a web browser.

Welcome to Kate Hume. Kate will be joining as an educational assistant in the special education department. Kate has substituted in the SPED department many times and has built a relationship with several of our students.

She will be a perfect addition to our team!

Hello 5th grade families! Can you believe it's already time to start planning for middle school?? Please fill out the link below to let me know which middle school you are thinking of/planning on having your student attend. This does not set anything in stone but helps me to better coordinate with everyone on the next steps needed to make for a smooth transition. If you are debating schools, you are welcome to list multiple on the form.

Have you heard about the Howbert Guiding Coalition but are not sure what it is about?

Would you like to be part of a team that partners with the school, learns about how it runs and provides valuable input?

You should give the Howbert Guiding Coalition a try!

The Howbert Elementary Guiding Coalition:

• Is not the same as the Howbert PTO, it has different outcomes.
• Meets four times a year (1 hour).
• You are welcome to come to one or all four of the meetings.
• You can attend virtually from the comfort of your home.

The next Howbert Elementary Guiding Coalition will be held on Tuesday, December 17th from 4:00-5:00

Here is the agenda for the meeting:

• School Improvement Plan - Update
• Information about our school-wide social, emotional, and behavior support system
• We will need your feedback on our after school clubs
• School budget and what is changing for next year

These are the fabulous clubs that are coming up at Howbert! Please gauge your child's interest and remind them to get a permission slip from their teacher if they would like to join. Spots in clubs are very limited so please try to only sign your child up if they can make it to all of the dates and if they are truly interested in attending. Thank you!

From Howbert PTO...

The Cougars Care Corner Market is now open for the 2024-2025 school year!

The Corner Market is a food distribution site partnered with Care and Share to help meet the tangible needs of the community.

Everything is free, you just take what you need and leave enough for others. Everyone may come on Thursdays from 3:00 - 6:00 when the Corner Market is open to the community.

The Corner Market supplies fruit, veggies*, non-perishable goods, snacks, school supplies, toiletries, hygiene products, clothing items, etc. when available.

*We have a limited amount of fresh produce but will supply what we can.

The Corner Market serves our entire community, so please utilize it!

The staff and students at Howbert love to have volunteers at the school supporting learning. If you would like to volunteer, please speak with the classroom teacher or contact the front office to share with us how you would like to help.

One of the first steps all volunteers must take, is to complete the Colorado Springs School District 11 Volunteer Application.

It is best to complete the application prior to visiting the school to volunteer.
