Week in Review & Upcoming Events
Last week we acknowledged Red Dress Day, or Red Dress Campaign, which is an annual event held by the REDress Project in memory of the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls across Canada. Thank you to Mr. Haman for setting up our display and sharing information with our school. Thanks to all of our staff who wore red in solidarity.
We also acknowledged Mental Health Week with a variety of activities, including a Good Morning Principal competition to share some fun in the morning, students sharing their regulation strategies, and finishing with the USC Ice Bucket Challenge with some of our Super Knights winners dumping the water on staff!
🤾 Our Track Meet is coming up on Wednesday, May 14 and we are looking for parent volunteers. If you are interested in helping during this very fun event, please email tristan.gerrie@eips.ca or braden.kuny@eips.ca. Thank you in advance for your support!
Please ensure that you have completed the 2025-26 Programming and Homeroom Request form and if you have not yet, please do so as soon as possible to help us with planning for next year. We have had 265 students/families for next year and we thank you for helping us with this planning!
Sincerely,
Matt Shudra, Principal, matt.shudra@eips.ca

Bike Theft Prevention
🚲 With Spring here and many students choosing to ride their bikes to school, I wanted to share some tips to protect your bicycles from theft. Theft of a bike can take just minutes, but the inconvenience and financial loss will last much longer.
Please consider the following tips:
· Never leave your bike unlocked in public.
· Never lock your bike by the front wheel only.
· Consider the use of two quality locks: use a U-lock and a cable lock. By using more than one style of lock it will take thieves two types of tools and twice as much time to steal your bike.
· Take the extra step and remove the seat or a wheel as an extra deterrent.
· Avoid leaving your bike on or in your vehicle.
· If storing your bike at your residence, store it in a safe location using a lock or on your property inside a locked area.
· If you are leaving your bikes in the back of a vehicle, lock them to your vehicle. Choose appropriate places to park.
In the event your bike is stolen, there are a few things you can do to police identify your bike:
· Record serial numbers (regardless of the value of the bike) so that they can be added to police computer records, helping bikes be identified if located.
· Photograph your bike, as a reference, to assist police in identification.
· Most bike stores keep serial numbers and information of your purchased bike. Check with your local bike shop to obtain that information if your bike does get stolen.

First Aid Course
Next Step is offering an Intermediate First Aid course on June 21-22 (max capacity 36 students) at Salisbury from 8:30am-4:00pm. Cost is $105 which includes all materials and certification (most first aid classes are $140), and classes will consist of only EIPS students. The course is being taught by two EIPS teachers. This is an excellent opportunity for students may be pursing trades/RAP, Early learning and childcare, or health related fields. We are operating this in conjunction with our usual Diploma Exam Prep Program. As such, it is available to all EIPS grade 9-12 families by registering through the Parent Portal, like Summer School. Please share out as you see best, and via social media and newsletters etc.
Course Description: The Intermediate First Aid Course is a comprehensive, hands-on, two-day program designed to equip participants with essential first aid skills for responding to a range of injuries and emergencies. Through interactive learning, attendees will gain knowledge in CPR, wound care, managing fractures, and more, with a focus on practical application. Intermediate First Aid training is focused on Basic Life Support skills and follows the new CSA standards Z1210-17 and the “Alberta Plus” standards. It includes AED and CPR level C training (adult, child and infant). https://www.eipsnextstep.ca/first-aid
All exams before June 18 will be followed by regular instructional classes. This includes the ELA Part A exams for all grades, as well as the PAT's for ELA and Math Part A and B.
Exams on and after June 18 will be followed by Review sessions.
If you plan on excusing your student from review sessions after their exams, regular attendance procedures will be in place and we will need parent / guardian permission for students to leave.
We will not be allowing students to call their parents during exam and instructional time on exam days to ask if they can go home.
