MVVS News and Notes

Our MVVS community came out for our largest math carnival yet! Thank you to Mrs. Millas and Mrs. Brown for coordinating this amazing event. Our students showed off their creativity, problem solving skills, collaboration, and leadership in the hours of preparation leading up to the event. This was another great day to be a Falcon!

Today was MVVS Field Day and our students had an amazing experience. Thank you to Mr. Saucier, our staff team, and our army of volunteers for making this event a huge success!

Our 4th graders performed a musical for our whole school this week. Thank you to Mrs. Price for all of her work in directing this performance. Also, to the many on our staff who made this a success including Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. Kucenski, and Miss McGregor. Our students are very talented!

Our 5th graders became important characters in history this week for all MVVS students to see. They presented in their characters in a walk through time. Great work, Grade 5!

The Mont Vernon Daland Memorial Library Summer Reading Program theme this year is called Color Our World. Registration will begin at the library on Friday, June 13th from 2:00-6:00p and will continue on Saturday, June 14th from 10:00a-1:00p. The first 100 kids to sign up will receive a fabulous thank you give away. The program is designed for kids of all ages- birth through high school. This week our students, as a walking field trip, visited the Daland Memorial Library to hear about the program. We are SO fortunate to partner with Daland on this program!

Summer is the perfect time to keep kids engaged and excited about reading, and there are some fantastic free programs available to help make that happen. Several organizations are offering fun incentives that reward children for reading over the break. Barnes & Noble’s Summer Reading Program allows kids to earn a free book by reading eight books and completing a simple reading journal. Chuck E. Cheese is also encouraging young readers by offering 10 free play points when children track their reading for two weeks.

Our Girls On The Run team ran their spring culminating 5K last Saturday at the Loudon Motor Speedway. A big thank you to our coaches and congrats to our girls for their hard work in preparing for this big day! Despite some very challenging weather, all of our girls finished with smiles on their faces!
