Good Afternoon SEMS Families,

As we approach Thanksgiving Break, I want to express my gratitude for the partnership we share and for the privilege of working with your amazing children. Their kindness, curiosity, and resilience reflect the love, values, and dedication you pour into their lives every day. Thank you for entrusting us with their growth and for contributing to the supportive community that makes our school so special. This season, I am especially thankful for the joy of being part of this journey with you. Wishing you and your families a holiday filled with gratitude and togetherness.

• November 25th-29th: Thanksgiving Break, No School
• December 10th: #icanhelp Assembly, Students AM & Parents PM
• December 19th: Last Student Day, Winter Break Begins
• January 13th: School Resumes, 2nd Semester

We are thrilled to announce that after winter break, students will be able to select bus service to SEMS! If you would like your student to take the bus to and from school, please sign up by completing an application as soon as possible, available here.

Many students will qualify to ride the bus to school for free, while others may need to purchase a low-cost bus pass. Once your application has been submitted, a member of our Transportation team will reach out to share details with you.

We have invited the #icanhelp organization to come to our school to teach our students about digital safety. While we have seen an increase in positive student interactions with a cell phone free environment for most of the day, we also recognize that most of our students have cell phones and believe it is important for us to teach them how to use them safely. We will hold grade level assemblies in the morning and will have a parent presentation that night.

Short-term independent study is available for planned absences between 1-15 days with a 5-business day notice to the Attendance Office. If your child completes the work assigned, their absences can be changed to 'Excused" and we are able to recoup our ADA! Please contact the Attendance Office at semsattendance@smusd.org or 760-290-2814.

Homework Time

Homework Time began on Tuesday, September 3rd. It is held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in the library. This is a quiet space for students to work on assignments.

After School Tutoring/Extracurriculars
