Welcome back to an exciting new school year at Travis High School! It has been such a joy getting to know everyone this week and I'm thrilled for the amazing things we can accomplish this year. Each week, I'll be sending out our weekly newsletter, the Tiger Choir Chronicles, sometime between Sunday and Monday. It will also be posted on the choir website under "Weekly Updates." I am so thrilled to lead the Tiger Choir program again this year and for many years to come! I look forward to working with both you and your children to create a partnership the allows them to not only find a high school family in the choir room and fall in love with choral music, but ensure they grow to be wonderful humans who succeed in all aspects of their high school career.

Every class spent this week working on team building, learning classroom policies procedures, and what to expect this year.

We also spent a lot of time getting choir students "set up" for the year in Remind and Schoology accounts, learning students' choir backgrounds, and discussing goals for the year. Please check with your child to ensure that they have enrolled in the correct Remind and Schoology courses. If they need Remind codes, they can be found under "Contact and Communication" on the choir website.

Anyone interested in attending the San Antonio trip on April 11-12 MUST attend our information meeting on Thursday, August 15 at 6:00 pm in the Choir Room. We will go over information about the trip including itinerary, cost, how to register, expectations and policies, etc. The first deposit for the trip is due by September 3rd so it's very important that those who plan to attend are present for this meeting. If you attending the spring meeting, you are not required at this meeting.

The counselors are working diligently to fix students' schedules and ensure they are in the correct class period. I appreciate everyone's patience as we are working on their timeline while they manage our schedule changes on top of the student schedule requests from around the campus.

Students will be bringing home a half-sheet of paper with their "Beginning of Year Checklist" which includes all the tasks that need to be in place and set up for them to have a successful year in the choir room. To prepare you for this, a general summary is below for ALL students with links to items when applicable:

• Paperwork: Students should have brought home a small stapled packet of forms that need to be filled out and returned. If your child has lost their copy, they can be found on the choir website under the "Documents" tab.
• Fill out Shirt Sizes form.
• Sign up for class remind. Class codes can be found on the choir website under the "Contact and Communications" tab.
• Pay Choir Fee via RevTrak. For a description of choir fees, please see the document on the choir website under the "Documents" tab. You can find the RevTrak link below or via the choir website under "Choir Fees." Please be sure you select the choir fee. Students who are NEW to THS Choir, will select "New Member Fee" which includes uniform pieces and supplies that they will use for each year they are in choir. Students returning to THS Choir who are NOT in Chorale will select "Non-Chorale Member Fees" which does not include the choir polo and garment bag since it was purchased last year. Students in Chorale should select "Chorale Fees" that include their All-State entry fee as well as an additional transportation fee that assists in bus costs for their various festivals and events this year.

Chorale is off to a great start! In addition to everything above, we discussed varsity expectations for these students. They have a much more demanding schedule compared to other classes with several that I'd like to highlight for Varsity Chorale parents:

• Students are required to sing at Football Games listed on the choir calendar. These will all be performance grades for students. Transportation for football games is NOT provided so please begin planning now.
• Students are required to audition for the District round of the All-State process. Should they advance it is their choice whether or not to continue, but all students are required to learn the district round music that has been provided to them.
• Sectionals: Sectionals are offered for students auditioning in the All-State process. As of now they are NOT required, however, students need to be working independently and coming to sectionals for maximum success. They have practice tracks available to them in their Schoology course. While sectionals are not graded, the Mock Audition will be so please check in on your child to ensure they are practicing and working on the first round of music.
