Choice Lottery Now Open
The Choice Lottery window for GCS is now open. It will close December 6. If you have a student who will be new to Mitchell Road who does not live in our attendance area, you need to come to the front office to complete a form if we are your first choice school. You may request two other schools on this form as well. You may only complete one Choice form. You will be given a duplicate copy of the form that has an ID number you can use to track the placement in the lottery. It is recommended that you take a picture of the form with your phone for your records. Results of the lottery will be posted on the district website by February 12, 2025 for parents to view their selection ranking. The ID number on the Choice form will be used by the parent/guardian to identify the student’s place in the waiting list sequencing. Only requests submitted to schools during the Choice Lottery Window will be posted on the website. Please share this information with any parents who may be interested in Mitchell Road for their child but who do not reside in our attendance area.
Important Notes:
- Parents of rising 5K students should complete their choice request form during the “Choice Lottery Window” and not wait until kindergarten registration, which is December 2 through December 6, 2024.
- Parents of current MRES K4 students who wish to continue at Mitchell Road but who are not in our attendance area also must still complete the Choice form in the front office for consideration to continue here next year.
- Parents who have students with siblings attending the requested school for the 2025-26 school year must complete the request form during the Lottery Window to receive sibling priority. Parents must indicate the current student’s name and rising grade on the form to be eligible for sibling priority.
Magnet Application Process Temporarily Suspended
Due to technical issues within the new application, the 2025-26 Magnet Application process has been temporarily suspended. Once the issues are resolved, we will provide notification that the process has reopened, and the application window will be extended with a new deadline.
Talent Show Coming Soon!
Our MRES Talent Show will be performed twice on December 19 at 8:30am and 10:00am! Auditions for the show will be on Friday, December 6. Students interested in auditioning have had the opportunity to get a form from Mrs. Cooley. However, if you need another copy - here is the link. Only students who have turned in a completed application to Mrs. Cooley by Thursday, December 5 will be eligible for an audition.
Student Council Service Project
Who will win?? Student Council will be announcing the results on our morning news on Tuesday. Students are welcome to wear their favorite team shirt to celebrate with staff!
Thanksgiving Feast!
Parents, we are excited to welcome you for our Thanksgiving Feast starting this week! Please enter through the back door by the gym. Be sure to arrive about 10 minutes early so that you can check in and get your ticket. You will check-in at the table located there and receive your pre-purchased tickets. There will be a limited number of tickets sold each day. If you need to purchase a ticket the day of, please help us by having exact change of $5.27 per ticket. Only cash will be accepted on the day of each event. Parents will wait outside the cafeteria for the class to arrive. Each class’s name will called out as they arrive so please listen closely. The Lost and Found will be on display so please take a look to see if you recognize anything that belongs to your child.
If it is not your student's Thanksgiving Feast day, they will be getting a bagged lunch to eat in the classroom. *Note: Except for special circumstances, we will not be mixing days because it throws off the lunch schedule and academic instruction.
We look forward to welcoming our guests into school for this special tradition!
Run Hard Race and Lego Competition!
Congratulations to our Run Hard team and Lego Robotics team! Both groups had their competitions on Saturday and we are so proud of our Mustangs. 🎉
