SEF funded over $166,641.75 in innovative grants for our Raiders last year, thanks to our generous community.
One of those grants supported the Be a Raider initiative, led by SES Counselor LeeAnn Hill.
The program helps students build the character of the district’s youngest students through its social-emotional learning focus, titled “Be a Raider.” The campus-wide program hones in on five character traits that lay the foundation for scholarship and citizenship as students learn how to connect and interact with their peers and teachers.
The focus traits, which teachers collaborated on to define are: Be Helpful, Be Honest, Be Kind, Be Positive, and Be Responsible.
When students show these character traits in outstanding ways, they are rewarded for their positive behavior and are given a chance to go to the school store, which is also funded by SEF. Students may then "purchase" something (using their positive reward points) at the store!
