Dear MMA Parents and Guardians,

It's hard to believe that we’ve already reached the 30-day mark of the school year! Time is flying by, and we are excited to share some highlights and important updates from this past week:

Intruder Drill Success
On Thursday, our school conducted an Intruder Drill (Lockdown), and I want to commend our staff for their exceptional execution. Their precision and care ensured that our scholars were safe and well-prepared in case of an emergency.

Attendance Achievements
We are thrilled to announce that this past Wednesday, we met our attendance goal with 97% of our scholars present! A special shout-out to Grambling State University for achieving perfect attendance every day last week. Additionally, kudos to FAMU, UT Martin, and UT Knox for having perfect attendance three days out of the week. Let’s keep encouraging our scholars to be present every day!

Open House Success
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Open House. It was a wonderful opportunity for you to receive your child's data and an update on their progress. Your involvement is crucial to their success, and we appreciate your continued support.

Upcoming Events this Month

First Friday Event – Grandparents Day
We are excited about our first Friday event this week as we celebrate Grandparents Day. We look forward to welcoming our scholars' grandparents to the building for this special occasion!

Progress Reports – Coming Soon
Progress Reports will be sent home on September 12th. Please make sure to check Schoolrunner regularly and ensure your scholar is completing all missing assignments. Staying on top of their progress is key to their academic success.

Sports Tryouts This Week
This week, we will be holding tryouts for Track, Basketball, Cheer, Majorette, and Drumline. Please remember that scholars must have a physical to participate in tryouts. Well-child packets were sent home, and we will only schedule physicals if we receive 30 completed packets. Please turn in all completed packets to Nurse Russell as soon as possible.

One month down, nine more to go! Let’s make every day count by ensuring our scholars are present and ready to learn. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we will make this school year a successful one!

If scholars miss 5 or more absences (excused or unexcused) they are considered to be AT RISK and the school Truancy Process will begin. See below the Process Chart. Help us to maintain our 95% attendance rate by ensuring your child is present daily.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to offer all students the opportunity to engage in enriching extracurricular activities through our school clubs! This survey is designed to help us understand your child's interests and ensure we can accommodate as many students as possible in their preferred clubs. If you have multiple children you will have to fill out a new one for each child.

Participation Details:

• Grades KK-2nd and Brown University: Students in these grades will automatically participate in a club within their homeroom. This provides a convenient and consistent way for younger scholars to engage in club activities with their peers.

• Grades 3rd-6th: Students in these grades will have the opportunity to choose from a range of clubs based on their interests. Please help us by selecting your child's top 3 club choices from the list provided below.

Survey Instructions:

1. Select Your Child’s Top 3 Club Choices: Review the list of available clubs and indicate your child's three preferred options. This will assist us in placing them in a club that best aligns with their interests.

2. Club Placement: While we will do our best to accommodate your child's preferences, placement in clubs may depend on the size and availability of each club. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to create a balanced and engaging experience for all students.
