RHS Volleyball
Weekly Update
Parents
With that said, multiple players have come to me from both JV and Varsity worried about the things that have been overheard by our parents in the stands about our own players. Having so many parents at games should be a source of pride for our girls! I encourage you to please keep negative comments to yourself (or come to me if you need to).
While these may be seemingly small comments to you, they can destroy an athletes self esteem. All of our players are all incredible athletes who give their best each and everyday! (And if they aren't it is up to the coaches to make those determinations). More importantly than being athletes, they are also teenage girls who are in the process of building their self-esteem.
Not only do those comments get into their head, it hurts our team Chemistry. I have seen feuds between parents drive wedges between players and ruin friendships. This program can be incredible if we have parents and players that are truly supportive of one another!
Please remember that ultimately we are all here to support your daughters growth- win or lose. Our goal is not just to develop their volleyball skills, but also to give them an outlet to continue growing into well rounded, incredible young women, foster strong friendships, teach them to be a part of a competitive team, show them that hardwork pays off and have a positive experience out on the court.
So, as the old saying goes, I would encourage you that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". If you have an issue with this, or any other issues please feel free to come and talk to me.
Volleyball Weekly Review
Varsity's had a great week! Tuesday, the girls came out slow versus East Carteret but managed to push each other to get excited about the game picking up another conference win! After a long, hot practice at Trexler we knew we were prepared to face Dixon on Thursday. We were prepared for a long battle but the girls played amazing and after a huge come from behind victory in the 3rd set we beat Dixon in 4 sets! With Trask losing on Thursday to Pender we are currently tied for 2nd in conference!!!

In order to ride home with a different parent the travel release form from a game must be submitted before leaving school. This form can cover the entire sports season.
The form that allows parents to drive a student to a match for a legitimate reason will still have to approved by Mr. Staley.
