Picture Retakes - This Friday, November 8th

Retakes are this Friday, November 8th. The photographers will only be here for retakes between:

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM

If your student arrives later than 10:30, they will not be able to have their picture taken.

Pictures are available for ordering through Jostens website. Please click the link below and enter the Stowe code FE21924 to view and select your pictures.

Pictures will be shipped directly to your house.

Veteran's Day

Hero Stars

If you have a family member who has served, please fill out a Hero Star that went home with your student. We have extras if you have multiple family members who have served.

The stars are due back this Wednesday, November 6th so we can have them on display in the gym leading up to the Veteran's Day Program.

Program

The Veteran's Day Program will be on Monday, November 11th. We invite family members who have served to attend the program.

Welcome, Mr. Finch!

Mr. Finch is joining us as our Social, Emotional, and Behavioral (SEB) Specialist. He comes from Lowell Elementary and is going to be an awesome addition to the Stowe team.

He is replacing Ms. Sperl, who has transitioned to East High School.

Thank you for everything, Ms. Sperl, and WELCOME Mr. Finch!

1) How long have you been teaching/where and what university did you attend?

I’ve been working in education for 20 years with roles in both general and special education. I attended the University of St. Scholastica where I earned a degree in psychology and management. I received my special education licensure through the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

2) What have you enjoyed/have been impressed by so far at our school?

I have been impressed with the great reputation Stowe has as a community school and am excited to be a part of the team here.

3) What is your favorite lesson or topic to teach?

I love teaching social skills. I believe acquiring social skills can help people be more successful throughout life.

4) What do you like to do outside of school?

I enjoy mountain biking, canoeing, camping and spending time with my family.

5) What is one fun fact about you?

I once traveled to Tokyo, Japan and went to a concert featuring Eric Clapton and George Harrison.

Welcome Back, Ms. Chloe!

We are so happy to welcome back Ms. Chloe, our amazing Social Worker! She is returning to us next week from deployment and is excited to jump back into Stowe. Thank you for your service!

For any questions or assistance you need from our social worker, please send Ms. Chloe an email at chloe.danielson@isd709.org. She will resume taking care of Kid's Closet Referrals and HDC Referrals as well.

Stowe partners with Duluth Kid's Closet to provide clothing and shoes for students in need. If you need a referral for Kid's Closet, please send an email to chloe.danielson@isd709.org. Once a referral is submitted from our end, please expect a call from Kid's Closet to schedule an appointment.

Duluth Public Schools is a proud partner of HDC to provide mental health services in school.

To register your child to receive therapy during school hours, please fill out an HDC referral form in the Stowe office, or send an email to chloe.danielson@isd709.org.

What We've Been Up To...

Halloween Fun

We had a busy Halloween week! The YMCA hosted the Happily Haunted Hike, PTA hosted Trunk or Treat, and the GND Rec hosted Tech or Treat on Tuesday. We had close to 300 trick or treaters come through and 31 vehicles participated in trunk or treat. It was so much fun to hold these events for students and our community!

The Halloween Parade was a huge success despite the rain! We moved the parade indoors and students had just as much fun inside as out.
