Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
Thank you to all of the families who contributed to a wonderful educator appreciation week! Our staff felt very supported and enjoyed the wonderful treats and words of thanks!
The cast of Glen Crest's student musical came to Westfield this week to sing some of their songs for our students. They did a great job, and some of the kids asked where they could see the whole show. Details are in the article below if your family is interested in attending.
Have a great weekend!

Input on class placements
We are about to begin the process of building classes for the 2024-25 school year. Class placement decisions are complex, and your child’s classroom teacher, the grade-level teaching team, our specialists, and the administrative team each play a role in the process as we work to place every child in the best possible setting. We consider learning styles, student personalities, class size, as well as students' academic strengths/needs. We strive for a heterogeneous class with a full range of abilities.
Families also know valuable information that can help us place your children. If you are interested, you may submit a letter to me no later than Friday, March 22. Please keep in mind that I will accept the following information from parents:
- If there is information about your child’s learning style that you feel is pertinent, please share this information.
- If an older child in your immediate family had a teacher and you’d like to request that a younger sibling not have the same teacher, please share this information.
- If you know that your child must be separated from a specific child to optimize your child’s learning experience, please share this information.
Please note: We cannot honor parental requests for specific classroom teachers. Factoring in all of the above variables as we create class lists is a delicate balancing act, and we will take each request into consideration as we do our best to meet the needs of all students.
“SnapCodes” used for April 3 registration will be arriving in the mail
All new and returning CCSD 89 families should soon receive a letter with the individualized “SnapCode” that will be used when 2024-25 registration opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3. Letters will be sent to families of new and returning students via U.S. mail starting the week of March 11. Be sure to keep the SnapCode; it will be used to complete registration. We want to hear from you! Share feedback through 5Essentials survey
Families can provide feedback through the annual 5Essentials survey that measures the learning climate and conditions at all Illinois public schools. The state only releases the results if 20 percent of our families respond, and we need more responses to hit our numbers. The survey closes March 29.
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Your answers are anonymous; individual responses cannot be seen by the school. Take the survey at: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/
