Fundrai$er Update

The Red Robin Dine-Out fundraiser last Tuesday brought in $331.18 for the Washington PTA. Thank you so much for ordering from Red Robin to support our students and staff!

Volunteer: Spelling Bee Judges and More

The spellers are studying and excited for the upcoming school-wide Spelling Bee. And to conduct a fair and orderly Spelling Bee, we are assembling a team of parent volunteers to help. Volunteer: Kindergarten Work Display

RBUSD is hosting the Kindergarten Information session at Washington Elementary School. The PTA is decorating the cafeteria lobby on Friday, Jan 19 with Kindergarten school work. We are looking for helpers to create a display of impressive Kindergarten writings and art. Sign-up here.

The nomination committee is forming the slate of board officers for the upcoming school year. Fill out the nomination form by Friday, February 1.

Invention Convention Chair

We are actively seeking a volunteer to chair the Invention Convention at Washington. Invention Convention is a worldwide TK-12 organization promoting invention and entrepreneurship. It is similar to a science fair. The Washington Invention Convention will be held the week of February 19. Exact date to be determined. The Chair will help coordinate the on-campus venue, communication to the parents and students, and recruiting judges. Contact president@explorerspta.org to inquire further about chairing this event.

Play Area Supervision Sign-up

From Principal O’Grady: Thank you so much to the parents who have volunteered on campus. We have been having more conversations about how to update safety structures on campus. There is a noticeable difference in how our students are using the restrooms responsibly. You can sign up for one or more slots.

Parent Education on Fentanyl

The Beach Cities Health District and South Bay Families Connected present “What I Wish My Parents Knew: Dangers of Youth Substance Use and Fentanyl.” It is an in-person event with a documentary screening plus a panel discussion. Naloxone will be provided to attendees. Click here for more details and to register.
