by Jacqeuline Parks, Williston Central School Principal
The December break is quickly approaching as the window between the November and December time off is short this year. This can be a hectic time for everyone-families, schools and the community in general. At the school level, we are definitely working to help students be regulated. I hope everyone can slow down, take some time for themselves and some extra time to connect with your child(ren).

News from around CVSD
A forthcoming administrative restructuring is set to take place on January 1 at Shelburne Community School and Charlotte Central School. Made with great collaboration, thought and excitement, this transition moves our system in a dynamic direction that addresses current needs and demonstrates the flexibility and creativity that CVSD seeks to achieve in the coming years. While this restructuring most likely doesn’t impact you, we wish to make you aware of what’s happening elsewhere in the district.
Read more about these changes in a recent letter to staff and faculty from Interim Superintendent Adam Bunting.

ABS Library Update
Hello Readers! I want to thank your family for sharing storytimes at home together with your child each week and helping them build a culture of reading for curiosity and pleasure. Ask your child to sing the "Fiction, Fiction, it's a made up story from the author's brain!" and "Numbers mean nonfiction!" library songs for you. We have been learning how to use the free Epic! reading app to listen to audiobooks together. We have also been exploring several favorite series of books across genres. I am delighted to read and explore with your child. Many happy tidings this snowy season! Love, Mrs. Clopton

Communication at Williston Schools
Communication with parents and caregivers is a key component in maintaining family engagement and support. Currently, every teacher/team and school communicates regularly in some way to families. Emails, blogs, newsletters, websites, and Facebook are a few of these methods. If you reach out to a person who works in the district, you can expect a response to your communication within two (2) school days (keeping in mind that weekends and the days school is not in session are not included). In the event that a response will take more time, district employees may acknowledge receipt of your email, call, or otherwise contact you with information about when they will be able to provide resolution to your request. Please remember that if you have a concern, please go to the person most directly involved first. You are also encouraged to use the CVSD Connect With Us page.
