Happy Sunday Harris Park Families,
I hope this message finds you well!
Last Thursday, we sent home a blue paper for parents and guardians to fill out, sharing how you will support your children as they pursue their goals. Your thoughtful responses will be displayed alongside the goal forms completed by our students at school, and they truly love seeing their aspirations showcased in our hallways! When our 5th graders transition to middle school, they will receive these goal sheets as a keepsake—a wonderful reminder of their journey through elementary school. If you have not yet returned them, please send them with your children tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone who has already scheduled conferences with your child’s teacher. Conferences will take place on October 8th, 9th, and 10th from 3:15 to 5:15 PM by appointment only. If you haven’t scheduled yours yet, please reach out to your child’s teacher or return the blue conference selection sheet. Also, be sure to visit the library during conferences for our Scholastic Book Fair!

On Tuesday, we’ll also host our Fall Festival from 1:00 to 2:15 PM, where families are invited to join us on the field for a series of fun activities!

Scholars After School is a 30 week after school program that runs from mid September to mid May on school days from 2:50-4:50. This fun program includes snacks, literacy support, enrichment activities, and time for scholars to explore and use their voice and choice to guide how they would like to engage.
Scholars Unlimited is proud to offer our programs at no cost to students or their families. We accept all students of all races, ethnicities, genders, orientations, national origins, and immigration statuses.

What makes this program so successful?
We start with a brief assessment to determine each student’s individual literacy learning needs. Then, students are grouped according to those needs for small-group instruction. Our teacher-to-student ratio of 1:6 ensures that each child receives personalized support.
Students also participate in self-paced computer learning, which is proven to help students master fundamental skills that are essential for reading fluency.
This combination of teacher-led intervention and computer-based tutoring is referred to as “blended learning” — and for our scholars, it’s a recipe for success.
The Westminster Boys & Girls Club provides after-school and summer programs to kids ages 6-18 at Hidden Lake High School in Westminster, Colorado. Club members can choose from a variety of programs, build relationships with caring adults, and learn important life skills. Members can join for an annual fee of $2 – which includes daily meals and snacks, sports, STEAM activities, and more.

WPS is excited to offer opportunities in athletics to students in elementary school. Each activity will cost $50 per student-athlete. Each activity will offer practices and games. Student-athletes will receive a uniform they keep. Transportation will not be provided to or from games. Games begin in September for elementary-based sports (Westy Juniors).
