Our Senior Council had their first meeting this week and helped finalize decisions around our Red Ribbon Spirit Week (see below) and our Unity Day activities (October 16). They also made posters with kindness quotes to hang in the hallways to set the tone for Unit Day. For more information, see the links below.

Students in grade three completed their CKLA unit and their Toad display has received a lot of buzz! Take a look below to see some of the highlights and to talk to your 3rd graders about Toad!

Our first PTA meeting was held Wednesday night. Thank you to all who attended and we hope to see you at the PTA Fall Festival on October 18! If you have not joined the PTA yet, there is a QR code below in the PTA announcements.

Finally, please take a look at the Google Form for Future Trailblazers (Career Day) which will be on December 6. We are looking for volunteers to participate and share their passions with our students!

SMILE! Picture day is October 16! Get dressed in your best! This is also Unity Day (wear orange) so if students want to change after their picture, they can bring a change of clothes. See below for more info!

"Unity Day, started by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center as the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month continues to grow every year as a tangible representation of the universal message that our society wants to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion to prevent bullying" (National Bullying Prevention Center - linked below).

Unity Day is also wear orange day. We know it's also picture day. Orange is not required! If your child would like to change into orange after they take their picture, feel free to send in a change of clothes!

On Friday, October 18, students will participate in a walk around the track with their classes in honor of cancer awareness. Student may wear pink on this day as well.

1. Please remind your child that recording and/or taking pictures of others is not permitted on school grounds or on school transportation. Phones should remain in backpacks.
2. Suffern Central School District has a Wellness Policy. Please review it in the handbook linked below. Food sent in or brought in for classes will not be distributed or sent home with students.
3. Cell phones are NOT permitted during lunch or recess and should not be used anywhere on school grounds. If your child has a phone, they must leave it in their bag and keep it off. If we collect cell phones during the day, they will be brought to the main office and have to be picked up by a parent/caretaker at the end of the day or the following day.

If you email Dr. Ivey, please also include Mrs. Eileen Lomei, secretary, and your child's teacher. This will ensure that your communication has been received and will be addressed. If there are any health issues/concerns that you would like to share with Nurse Cooper, please be sure to include the teacher on the communication as well (if you feel the teacher should also know).Finally, if you are emailing your child's teacher about a change in pick-up or absence, please also include our secretaries.
