Catapulting into Quadratics: Algebra 2 Students Launch Hands-On Learning
This week, Mrs. Mannausau’s Algebra 2 students put their math skills to the test by building and launching their own catapults! Using popsicle sticks, rubber bands, tape, and a choice object, they engineered catapults designed to model parabolic motion. Each group launched a mini marshmallow, a Cheerio, and a creative object of their choice. By estimating the vertex of their projectile’s path, students wrote quadratic equations to model the launch—bringing math to life in a fun and interactive way!
Working Together to End the Stigma!
Mrs. Hamers, Señora Christianson, and Ms. Swanson brought together 10th graders and 5th and 6th graders to learn about our community partnership with Northland Counseling and the “Stick It To Stigma” event. Students created posters to challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes surrounding mental health.
Together, we are stronger! Let’s continue to support and encourage each other!
FHS staff & students are joining forces to spread awareness about mental health!

Vaping Awareness
KAPE Coordinator Jenesa Balaski, along with Community Education Director BethAnne Slatiniski, led a lesson for 7th-grade students, focusing on the dangers of vaping. These interactive sessions aimed to raise awareness about the serious health risks associated with vaping, empowering students to make informed and healthier choices.
Conflict and Bullying
Please talk to a trusted adult if you or a friend are struggling with conflict, bullying. We have attached some resources below as a guide. When we bring a community together, conflicts inevitably arise. If the conflict persists into bullying or harassment it is imperative that students and adults work together to make it stop. At FHS we take this seriously and will thoughtfully and carefully investigate each incidence, help resolve conflict, and address bullying. Everyone deserves to feel safe at school!
