Early Release Dates: MARCH 14 & 28
Spring Break: March 17-21st
Up Coming State Testing Dates:
On Wednesday, March 5, several students participated in the school year's final battle for the Battle of the Books program. Battle of the Books is a reading program funded by the Deer Valley Education Foundation for 5th and 6th grade students who team themselves in groups and read 12 books and answer questions about the books in three lively competitions.
The Star Readers team (Haley Frolich, Eliza Ohlson and Duke Forbes) took first place in our final battle earning a perfect score of 70 points! The Blue Flames team (Tucker Stark, Brad Wills, Mason Rudloff) came in second place and missed only one question. The Royal Kings team (Benjamin Wert, Liam Gamboa-Salverria, Henry Lacombe) rounded out our top three. The overall results for the yearlong competition (adding up the cumulative score for all three battles) are as follows: 1st place: Star Readers (Haley Frolich, Eliza Ohlson and Duke Forbes); 2nd place: Blue Flames (Tucker Stark, Brad Wills, Mason Rudloff); 3rd place: The Ravens (Miles Crane, Joseph Brinkerhoff; CJ Crosby). Haley, Eliza, and Duke from our 1st place team will be competing in the district's Battle of the Books competition on March 25. We wish them good luck and send congratulations to all our students who participated in the program for their hard work and accomplishments!
