Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Get ready to level up for another exciting month at BRMES! As we gear up for February and brace for those chilly mornings, here are some important "game rules" to keep us all on track:

🕹️ MISSION START:
Front Doors Open: 7:45 AM
School Hours: 8:10 AM - 3:00 PM
Tardy Bell: 8:15 AM
Office Hours: 7:45 AM - 3:30 PM

🎯 IMPORTANT CHECKPOINTS:
STUDENT MESSAGES – Any changes to your child’s pick-up routine must be sent via note (brmesoffice@mdsd.org) or called in to the office before 2:30 PM. We reference a "master list" to ensure your child gets home safely!

🚗 DROP-OFF QUEST (Starting at 7:45 AM):
For a smooth start to your day, pull past the front doors so several cars can drop off at once. If you need to park and come inside, that’s fine but wait for crossing guard to stop traffic and cross only at the crosswalk. Please make the drop-off curbside whenever possible. Be sure your kiddo is all set with snow gear and their backpacks before the "game" starts!

🎮 PICK-UP GAME MODE (Starting at 3:00 PM):
Use the front one-way loop only for pick-up. Pull forward as far as you can to "load up" your child. Stay in your car (no jumping out mid-game). For safety, we ask kids to line up single file along the sidewalk and group by family. Heads up! No Access below the BRMES hill (before PLMS)—this area is a fire & bus lane and is off-limits for pick-up. If your child has a sibling at PLMS, remind them to use the sidewalk to find you at the PLMS pick-up line.

🚌 BUS LANE BOSS MODE:
Remember, the bus lanes are strictly for buses only. If you're not a bus, please steer clear! No pick-up or drop-off in the bus lanes or service lanes (unless you're in a designated handicapped vehicle). Yield to buses, and keep the lanes clear!

• 🔒 FEEDBACK: We value your feedback and believe there are never too many safety measures in place to protect your child(ren) and our staff at school. We constantly re-evaluate and strive to improve constantly. Share your ideas anytime here.
• 🚪 DOORS: All exterior doors remain locked all day long unless we are supervising access with an adult standing at the door.
• 📝 STUDENT SIGN IN: Students are able to sign themselves IN on a touch screen computer. We kindly ask that all parent drop-offs take place without the adults coming inside the building.
• 🚗 SIGN OUT: Parents may call the front desk (634-2219) and ask their child to SIGN OUT/come outside or parents can come inside to sign out your child with the touch screen computer without calling. You will ring the doorbell and may be asked through an intercom how we can help you. If we don't know you, we likely will not open the door.
• 📝 VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are pre-scheduled and will be admitted through our background check/sign-in process and the doorbell. Remember, no taking pictures or videoing of any staff or students while at the school or on a school event.
• 🚌 PARKING: Park in designated spots only. Handicapped Parking is clearly marked and is for those with a proper tag only.
• 🚫 NO PUBLIC ACCESS: New signs for the playground areas are now marked to make it clear that all school grounds are closed to the public during the school day.

In the event of a Snow Day, you will be notified by phone and email through our automated calling system. The district will try to make a decision no later than 6:30 AM to either:

1. CANCEL school for the day (for all students)
2. Implement “2 HOUR DELAY” (Buses pick up 2 hours later than normal and the school day would run from 10:05-3:00.)

Please join us for our 3rd quarter PTA meeting on Friday, February 7th, at 8:15am in room 263. We will be discussing our end of the year events. We look forward to seeing you there and always welcome new faces!
