Cougar Courier Edition 9
Hello Antwine Families,
We are excited to introduce you to our House Team System here at Antwine MS! This initiative is designed to build community, promote scholar engagement, and foster a sense of belonging among all scholars.
What is the House System?
The House System divides scholars into smaller communities, or “houses,” within the larger school environment. Each house is made up of scholars from various grades, providing opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and friendships across different age groups. Houses often participate in various activities, competitions, and events, encouraging teamwork and school spirit.
Why a House System?
1. Fostering a Sense of Belonging: Scholars identify with their house, building strong relationships and a shared sense of responsibility.
2. Encouraging Positive Competition: Friendly competitions and events between houses motivate scholars to strive for excellence while teaching resilience and sportsmanship.
3. Promoting Leadership and Mentorship: Older scholars often take leadership roles, mentoring younger scholars and setting positive examples.
4. Building Character: The system emphasizes key values like teamwork, integrity, respect, and responsibility.
How it Works
House Teams: Each house is led by a House Leader (often a teacher) and may have scholar leaders who help organize activities and foster community spirit.
Points System: Houses earn points through academic achievements, participation in events, good behavior, and acts of kindness. These points contribute to the house’s overall score, with rewards or recognition at the end of the term/year.
Competitions & Events: Throughout the year, houses participate in various academic, sporting, and creative competitions. These events are designed to bring out the best in scholars and encourage them to support one another.
Thank you for being a part of our incredible community.
Wishing you all a PAWSome Week!
With gratitude,
Patricia Fernandez

Uniform Policy
Be sure to become familiar with our uniform policy.
It is the philosophy of the Socorro Independent School District and Hurshel Antwine School that scholars should maintain high standards of dress, grooming, and appearance. SISD has established the following universal uniform options to compliment the other agreed upon school uniform options:
- Khaki pants and a white polo shirt without a school logo;
- School uniform pants and a school colored polo shirt without a school logo.
- Physical education uniform bottoms (shorts or sweatpants in any color) and a white, gray, or school colored t-shirt without a school logo.
As per Policy FNCA (local), a universal uniform may be worn at any SISD School, which has elected to implement a school uniform policy.
