LHS 1.20.25
Dear LHS Families:
Exams are still upon us this week, despite the cold weather outside! Unfortunately, it seems that the weather often has a way of disrupting our annual Semester 1 exam plans. That's OK, though, because we have a work around and our staff helped students get prepared ahead of time due to the bitterly cold forecast. Please be sure to carefully read the information below regarding exams and the exam schedule.
Additionally, please encourage your student(s) to dress warmly and in layers during these cold winter months. It is not uncommon for a building of our size to have significant temperature fluctuations, especially during extreme weather patterns.
Exam Information
Exams are scheduled to begin this week. Please encourage your student(s) to focus on the exams they have to take first, review and complete exam study guides, schedule breaks/down time from studying, get a good night's rest, and eat a well-balanced breakfast each day. To support them at home, you can: help your student study and then quiz them on their materials.
Exam Schedule - THIS WILL BE OUR EXAM SCHEDULE, due to not having school 1.21 and 1.22

SLT (Student Leadership Team) UPDATE
Supporting PBIS Rewards
Our PBIS Rewards program is getting a refresh, and we’d love support from our Lincoln community to make it shine! We’ve created an Amazon Wish List to help recognize and reward students for their positive behavior. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful impact, and we deeply appreciate your generosity in helping us encourage our students to succeed!
We’re also looking for sponsors for monthly schoolwide rewards—think donuts, cookies, or other fun treats that students will love. If you have creative ideas or would like to sponsor a reward, please email us at schwegler@lincolnk12.org. Together, we can make a difference!
Splitter Buck Day
On January 10, the high school held its first-ever Splitter Buck Day. Students earned a Splitter Buck for each class period they attended on time, emphasizing the "Be Responsible" pillar of our PBIS expectations. The event was well-received by both staff and students, and we look forward to hosting another Splitter Buck Day soon!
PBIS Class Meetings
After returning from the holiday break, class assemblies focused on revisiting our PBIS expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind. These interactive sessions engaged students through a question-and-answer format, with many Splitter Bucks earned during the presentations. The importance of earning credits toward graduation was also emphasized, especially as students prepare for end-of-semester exams.
HAPPENINGS AT LHS
National Student Recognition
LHS Seniors Alysia Burgess and Shayla Weber placed in the recent Fall 2024 CS Academy Creative Task Competition, a national student Python coding competition run by Carnegie Mellon University. Alysia placed 2nd in the Unit 3 category with her Boop Wondahoy program, and Shayla placed 3rd in the Unit 4 category with her Sorry! program. The students received certificates from CMU for their achievements. Both students are in the CS Python Computer Programming class taught by Kyla Gurganus.
LHS Jazz Band
Seven talented members of the Lincoln High School Jazz Band had an incredible opportunity to expand their musical horizons on January 15th. The students attended a dress rehearsal with the Swing City Big Band, pairing up with professional musicians to rehearse a full set of music in preparation for an upcoming performance at Marachinos Pub in Plymouth next week. This unique experience allowed the students to perform at a professional level, honing their skills and gaining valuable insight into the world of live jazz performance.
Travel Opportunity
There are still some spots open on the the Switzerland and the Mediterranean Trip scheduled for the summer of 2026. Please see THIS FLYER for details on how to save some money if you sign your student up now.
