Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Dear Cape Parents/Guardians,
The holiday season is upon us, and the excitement in the air is contagious! December is a time of joy, celebration, and giving back, and we’re thrilled to share all the fun activities, learning opportunities, and community-building happening at Cape this month.
Help us spread cheer by supporting families in need through the Cape Coral Police Department’s ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ Toy Drive! To participate, purchase a new, unwrapped toy and send it to Cape on Wednesday, December 4th. Parent drop-off students can hand their toys to a Cape Coral Police Officer waiting on the ramp. Bus students will walk to the parent pick-up area to drop off their toy donations. CCPD officers, dressed in festive Santa hats, will greet our Cape kids, pass out candy canes, and collect the generous gifts. Thank you for making a difference in our community!
The much-anticipated PTO Holiday Shoppe is just around the corner, and we need your help to make it a success. Volunteers are needed to assist students as they pick out gifts, wrap presents, and stock the shop. Whether you can spare an hour or an entire day, your support will make this event extra special for our students. If you’d like to lend a hand, please call the school or visit https://capeelementarypto.ptboard.com/ to sign up for a time that works for you. Our students love the joy of shopping for their families, and with the PTO’s incredible selection of gifts, it’s sure to be a memorable experience. Thank you for helping us spread holiday cheer!
While we hope everyone enjoys some well-deserved rest, there are plenty of fun ways to keep young minds active during Winter Break:
Winter Reading Challenge: Create a cozy reading nook at home and set a goal to read a new book or two! Consider visiting the local library or accessing online reading resources for great stories to explore.
Family Game Night: Board games like Scrabble, Boggle, or Monopoly are excellent for practicing spelling, math, and critical thinking—all while having fun together!
Holiday Writing Prompts: Encourage your child to write about their favorite holiday memory, create a story about a magical winter adventure, or jot down a list of goals for the New Year.
Math in the Kitchen: Cooking or baking together is a great way to practice math skills. Measuring ingredients and doubling recipes are perfect hands-on learning opportunities.
Science at Home: Try a simple winter science experiment, like making "frost" on a can, building a paper snowflake, or observing how ice melts in different environments.
Explore Local Museums or Nature Trails: Visit a museum, zoo, or nature trail to learn something new as a family.
Learning can happen anywhere and anytime—these activities will help keep your child’s skills sharp and make for meaningful family time!
Important Reminders:
December 20th: Early Dismissal Day—Please plan accordingly as CKC will be closed.
January 6th: Due to the recent storms and school closures, students will return to school on this day instead of January 7th.
As we wrap up 2024, we want to thank you for your continued support and partnership in making Cape such a special place for our students to learn and grow. We hope your December is filled with warmth, joy, and quality time with loved ones. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Nicole Osterholm and Kristi Sund

Morning Drop-Off New Procedure: TARDY STUDENTS!
Our parent drop-off period is from 7:20 AM to 7:53 AM. We unload over 320 cars during that time with the help of our staff members and safety patrols. We are grateful for all of you pulling up close to the person in front of you and having your child hop out quickly.
Starting in the month of November, if you arrive after 7:53 AM, we kindly ask that you park in the big visitor's parking lot and walk your child to the front office for check-in. This procedure ensures that we maintain a secure environment for all students.
Change of Clothes for your Child!
Please consider placing a clean change of clothes in your child's backpack for emergencies. The clinic is very low on clothing. If you have any clothing to donate to our clinic, please send it to school or drop off in the front office. Gentle reminder....when your child borrows clothes from the clinic, please return them after laundering. Thank you for your help!
Marquee Update
We wanted to inform you that the school's marquee, which has served our community for over 12 years, has not been working for several months. Unfortunately, it is proving to be costly to repair, and as per district regulations, we are only able to work with approved companies for repairs.
We are currently in the process of obtaining bids from these companies to determine the best course of action. The options we are considering include repairing the marquee, replacing it with a new one, or potentially removing it altogether if repairs are not feasible.
We will keep you updated as we move forward with this process. Thank you for your understanding and support.
