SECTION 4: Tison Fine Arts
UIL One-Act-Play (OAP) Competition in April
The Tison Theater Company will be competing with other schools in our district at the upcoming UIL OAP competition on Tuesday, April 8th at the Cleburne ISD Don Smith Performing Arts Center. They are performing the play -- And a Child Shall Lead by Michael Slade.
The play tells the heroic and true story of children coming of age in Terezin, the "Jewish city" established by the Nazis near Prague as a way station before the death camps. In the face of unspeakable horror, these children use their determination and creativity to build lives filled with hope and beauty—playing, studying, making art, and writing an underground newspaper—all at the peril of being executed.
If you would like to see the public performance of this play, the students will put on a public performance at the Durant Auditorium on Thursday, April 10th at 6:30 pm. It is free to the public, but donations to the TTC program are always welcome!
"Angels of Bataan" Performed by Tison TTC, Jr.
The JV class of the TTC will be performing their own OAP at the public performance night on Thursday, April 10th at the Durant Auditorium. This group of students have been working on the play titled, Angels of Bataan by Tracy Wells.
It’s 1941 on the tropical island of Luzon in the Philippines and there are more than one hundred U.S. Army nurses who have come to the island looking for warm tropical breezes and a little adventure. But paradise becomes a nightmare when, just a few hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, enemy bombers target their island. Now, everyone must do all they can to keep themselves and their charges alive as they navigate nursing through a war zone in Manila, a tropical jungle in Bataan, and eventually as prisoners of war in the Santo Tomas Internment Camp. Through it all, the women’s spirits remain high and they rely on the ingenuity, camaraderie, and strength that eventually earns them the name the “Angels of Bataan.”
If you would like to see the public performance of this play, the students will put on a public performance at the Durant Auditorium on Thursday, April 10th at 6:30 pm. This production will take place before the varsity production of "And a Child Shall Lead".
It is free to the public, but donations to the TTC program are always welcome!
